Chapter 50: Chapter 50: I’m Just Collecting Interest
"I’ll go back once, let’s talk when we meet." She instinctively said.
"Don’t, I’m not home. You know how your Uncle Quentin is, now that the money’s spent, he definitely feels uncomfortable." May Lawrence said, sounding quite reasonable: "Consider it as mom begging you."
"I got it, I’ll transfer the money to you later, but I’ve just married into the family. If you care for me, please understand my situation." Nora Northwood took a deep breath, well, after all, she’s her birth mom; what could she do?
As soon as she finished, May Lawrence hung up the phone directly.
Looking at the bank balance on her phone, there was only fifty thousand, still missing half.
Suddenly she remembered the card Mr. Sinclair gave her for household expenses. She decided to use it urgently and explain to him later.
"Lily, I have some matters to attend to, so I won’t be shopping with you."
After the phone call, she mentioned briefly to Lily and planned to leave.
"What’s wrong? You look in a hurry. If there’s something, tell me." Lily Sloan looked worriedly at her friend.
But Nora Northwood smiled and nodded, not saying much.
She didn’t want to trouble Lily, nodded again, and left.
She went to the bank and withdrew all the money from the card, along with her savings, and transferred it to May Lawrence at the counter.
Looking at the transfer information on her phone, May Lawrence felt a bittersweet mixture of emotions in her heart, perhaps it could be called jealousy.
Suppressing these emotions, she transferred all the money she had just received to Quentin Ford.
"At least you and your daughter are of some use." With a greedy smile, Quentin Ford’s demeanor was painful for May Lawrence.
"Honey, Nora just got married, we can’t always ask her for money." She spoke softly.
But Quentin Ford on the side glared at her disapprovingly.
"What do you know, you stupid woman! She’s water spilled out after being married, how much money have we spent raising her? I’m just collecting some interest."
He said this, and while May Lawrence was displeased, she dared not refute.
With the money in hand, he hummed a tune and went out, muttering, "Let those losers look down on me; this time, I’m going to beat them to a pulp!"
May Lawrence dared not stop him, knowing he was off to play mahjong again. If the stakes were small, it’d be fine, but when the money was big, he lost everything every time.
On this side, the money issue was resolved, and Jasper Sinclair received the news on the other side as well.
All fifty thousand withdrawn together? He chuckled; really, is this woman showing her true colors?
Coldness rose in his eyes, and he even felt like his grandma was deceived by this woman.
"President Sinclair, please review this document."
Jasper Sinclair abruptly stood up, grabbed his suit, and went out: "Review it first, then send it to my computer."
He said this and left, eager to confront the woman face to face at home.
Louis Hayes scratched his head, unsure of how to deal with the documents.
The driver took him outside Southwood Court, he hurried into the unit, and went straight to the elevator heading to his doorstep.
As he entered, Nora Northwood was already back, absent-mindedly sitting on the sofa, lost in thought.
"Did you withdraw money today?" His voice was calm, revealing no emotion, only his eyes carried scrutiny.
Nora was about to talk to him about this matter: "I urgently needed money today, and I was short of fifty thousand, so I thought of withdrawing from the card for temporary use. I’ll return it afterwards."
She spoke, but Jasper Sinclair didn’t believe a word.
