Chapter 51: Hidden Feelings Laid Bare

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Hidden Feelings Laid Bare

"Oh." A single, indifferent word from Jasper Sinclair, who didn’t say anything more, not even when Nora Northwood asked him what he wanted for dinner.

At first, Nora didn’t notice anything wrong, thinking maybe Mr. Sinclair didn’t like her making decisions without consulting him first.

She quietly noted to herself that Mr. Sinclair didn’t like such actions.

During dinner, he either complained this dish had too much salt or that he didn’t like eating that.

Even the best temper could be worn down by him.

She suddenly put down her chopsticks: "Mr. Sinclair, I know you might be angry because I didn’t discuss it with you beforehand, but I was in a hurry at the time. My mother urgently needed treatment, and I also mentioned that I would repay it later. What else are you dissatisfied with!"

She really couldn’t stand Jasper Sinclair like this; why couldn’t he just speak his mind?

Being spoken to so bluntly, his expression wasn’t any better.

"I didn’t say I was unhappy because of that." Another indifferent remark, and he just took a few bites of dinner before getting up to leave.

The atmosphere between the two began to stiffen, all those previous warm and happy moments disappeared.

Nora felt wronged too; it wasn’t like she did something terribly wrong, so why was he treating her like this?

After hastily eating, she tidied up the kitchen and living room and went back to her room to rest.

For several days, they didn’t speak a word to each other, even under the same roof, neither wanted to say a single sentence.

A few days later, Jasper suddenly sent a message to Nora, telling her he wouldn’t be coming back for dinner that night.

"Come on, didn’t you say you’d have a drink with me? Why are you dragging your feet?" Finn Linden put an arm around his neck, obviously they had a close relationship.

"It’s nothing now."

Putting away his phone, Jasper followed Finn downstairs.

Sitting in the car, he glanced at the woman in the back seat, slightly surprised.

"Wendy Bell, remember? Our high school classmate," Finn said, driving from the front seat.

"Jasper, don’t tell me you have no memory of me," Wendy Bell smiled, greeting Jasper with a smile.

Who knew, Jasper just glanced at her: "No memory."

Ignoring how awkward this might make the woman behind him feel, he stayed silent in the passenger seat.

Finn wasn’t surprised; his friend was always like this, and the close friendship he shared with Wendy Bell made it even less surprising.

When they reached the bar, the three of them chose a quiet corner.

"Aren’t you planning to leave after returning to the country this time?" Jasper asked casually, swirling his wine glass.

"Not leaving. I’ve finished studying, and after this, I’ll just find a job here to pass the time." Finn appeared carefree, as if he wasn’t concerned about anything.

"Yeah, right." Jasper clinked glasses with him with a slight smile.

Beside them, Wendy Bell seemed like a backdrop, occasionally smiling and nodding, but her gaze unapologetically stayed on Jasper Sinclair.

"Is this your girlfriend?" Noticing her, Jasper casually asked.

Finn quickly shook his head, frowning: "I have no plans to date. We’re just classmates who happened to study abroad together."

"Sinclair might not recognize me, but we were all in the student council before," Wendy Bell took the initiative to say.

But Jasper didn’t respond to her, and Finn coughed lightly to break the awkwardness and continued the conversation.

"By the way, I heard that you’re already married?"

As soon as Finn said that, her expression changed, a hint of regret and displeasure flashed in her eyes, already married?
