Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Embarrassed to Be Seen
Nora froze, unable to describe her feelings at that moment. It was as if a knot in her heart had been untied, and she stared dazedly at Jasper.
"Nora, you’re my wife. Even if you reach the top with the aid of the Sinclair Family, it’s still your own skill."
"Most of the people who criticize you do so because they’ve had conflicts with you, or they’re just jealous."
"Since that’s the case, why bother proving anything to them?"
"Even if you prove you’re the best, they might not acknowledge it."
Jasper didn’t want to see her push herself so hard, always trying to separate herself from him.
He naturally hoped that Nora would rely on him a bit more at times.
She chuckled softly, took a deep breath, and smiled with relief.
"Alright, would my husband be willing to help me sort out the factory issues?"
Her voice was soft and sweet, making Jasper overjoyed, his body reacting.
Feeling his change, she blushed and teased him, calling him a rogue.
"I can’t help it; this time, you’ve truly seduced me."
Nora looked at the helpless guy before her, annoyed, she raised her small pink fist and punched him.
"Your mind is full of dirty thoughts!" She turned away, getting up from his embrace. Seeing he was about to follow, she glared at him, "Calm down, how can we go out like this?"
Pouting, her face was full of dissatisfaction.
Jasper chuckled, letting her have her way.
He leaned back on the sofa, watching the little one continue with her paperwork, smiling unknowingly.
He previously feared Nora would cling to him, but gradually, he realized he was gravely mistaken; Nora wasn’t the person he thought.
Later, he hoped every day that she would rely on him a little.
The sunset cast a warm glow on her desk, softening her features. He watched her silently, reluctant to look away.
Another hour passed, Nora finished her paperwork and stretched.
He was nestled on the sofa, already asleep.
She tip-toed over, reaching out to touch his long eyelashes.
The dark circles under his eyes were much clearer, probably because of her troubles.
Thinking of this, a flash of guilt crossed her eyes; if she were smarter, she wouldn’t have been schemed against.
"Stop it." He frowned, his voice hoarse but tender, as if catching a mischievous kitten.
He reached out and pulled her into his embrace.
The small sofa was already narrow, and now there was no space left.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together, close enough for her to feel Jasper’s warmth.
For a moment, she was flustered. He lowered his head, resting his forehead against hers.
She forgot how to breathe, nervously held tightly by him.
If Megan hadn’t accidentally pushed the door open, they might not have separated.
Megan met eyes with Nora on the sofa, quickly stepping back and closing the door, muttering, "Young people are truly energetic."
After closing the door, her face instantly blushed.
Being seen in such an embarrassing situation.
She hastily tried to get up from him, but the sofa was too narrow; panicking, she rolled off it, fortunately caught by Jasper just in time.
He scooped her up with one hand, lifting her, and she ended up sitting on his lap on the sofa.
Now great, after calming down with difficulty, she had to calm herself again.
"..."
"I can’t help it; this is all your doing." He still appeared innocent.
