Chapter 220: Chapter 220: The Best Is All Yours
At checkout, Nora noticed the several zeros behind the price tag. Her almond-shaped eyes widened slightly in disbelief—a thumb-sized brooch was actually selling for over a hundred thousand.
Like a thief, she tugged at Jasper Sinclair’s sleeve and lowered her voice, sounding a bit coquettish: "This is so expensive, maybe we should pick another one."
Jasper chuckled and replied in the same tone: "Earning money is for spending on my wife."
"I’ve never worn such expensive jewelry before."
"There will be more to come, the best in the world is yours."
"To me, you’re the best in the world right now." Their breaths intermingled, little did they know, several pairs of eyes were secretly watching their moves from behind.
After leaving the store, Jasper wanted to take Nora for another stroll, but she hesitated, "My feet are a bit sore, I want to go home and rest a bit."
"Alright, let’s go home then."
Both knew well that Nora simply didn’t want Jasper to spend too much.
Once they exited the mall, Nora’s mood eased considerably, and her attention shifted from money to the joy of couple’s accessories.
Afternoon, four o’clock.
The sun’s rays were somewhat glaring, piercing through the sparse plane tree leaves, shining on people.
Nora slightly bent her knees, trying to relieve the swelling sensation in her ankles.
The nearly seven-centimeter heels she wore all day were truly unbearable.
Jasper noticed her actions thoughtfully, and promptly picked her up horizontally from the ground.
Nora gasped a little in surprise, embarrassed, "I’d rather walk myself, so many people are watching."
"They must think we make a great pair."
Nora was light in weight, making it effortless for Jasper to hold her.
The glaring light caused Nora to bury her face into the man’s chest, although admittedly, she enjoyed it a bit.
Jasper only reluctantly put her down when his footsteps stopped in front of the car.
"Back to Southwood Court," he said to Louis Hayes, who had been waiting over an hour in the car.
Soon, the vehicle was on the move.
Watching the scenery retreating alongside the street, Nora still found it somewhat unbelievable.
The persimmon she meticulously crafted broke ten thousand sales on its first day; for her, it was an excellent start.
Warm wind sneaked through the car window, gently stroking Nora’s smooth, jade-like back. Her mood remained exceedingly cheerful the entire afternoon.
Back at Southwood Court, Jasper selected a bottle of slightly lower-alcohol white wine from the wine cabinet, "Let’s celebrate."
The clinking of wine glasses produced a crisp sound.
Nora swirled the glass, savoring the taste—the balance between sweet and tart was exquisite, lingering between her lips and teeth, an endless aftertaste.
She commented: "Rich aroma, no wonder it’s made from naturally frozen grapes."
When Jasper saw her increasingly captivating gaze, he suddenly recalled the day she competed with Jade Lockwood in wine.
Though it was an inconspicuous memory, unexpectedly, recalling it now made Nora’s every move vividly clear in his mind.
Jasper had an epiphany that he’d already placed her in his heart a long time ago.
Probably due to her mood, after a few glasses, Nora was a bit tipsy, even her speech became slurred: "Jasper, you, having you is wonderful."
Her tender tone struck Jasper’s ears, stirring a hint of tremor.
The crimson wine stained Nora’s lips, making them look alluringly enticing, hard to resist a taste.
Jasper was thinking this, and indeed, he acted upon it.
