Chapter 218: Like a Little Kid

Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Like a Little Kid

"Hmm, what a coincidence." During the conversation, Nora glanced around, catching sight of the two surveillance cameras overhead, and she quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Rachel noticed her subtle action and teasingly raised an eyebrow, "Talking to me makes you a bit nervous."

Nora disliked this, her gaze shifting from the cast on Rachel’s arm to her face, which always carried the same expression—aloof and condescending.

After a momentary pause, Nora responded sarcastically, "Miss Woodward, your health is rather fragile; I’m worried about bumping into you."

Clearly, her words had stumped the other woman.

Rachel’s expression changed for a brief moment before quickly returning to its usual state, "I wonder how your investigation with President Sinclair is going. I hope to receive your formal apology soon."

"Don’t be too impatient, Miss Woodward. We’re also waiting for the police investigation results."

"Waiting for your news then." With that, Rachel turned to leave.

All of this was caught by a pair of eyes from around the corner.

Back in the private room, Nora drank some water to calm her nerves, the tiny droplets lingering on her lips making her look even more alluring.

She pondered: I need to resolve the matter with Rachel Woodward quickly.

Megan Underwood interrupted her thoughts with concern, "Nora, why did you take so long in the bathroom?"

Nora hesitated for a moment, then replied, "Someone went nuts; I watched the show."

"There really are a lot of crazies in the news lately. Keep your distance next time to avoid getting into trouble."

Megan didn’t know that this madness wasn’t what it seemed.

Three hours later, the celebration banquet concluded.

Annie asked, "My driver will be here soon. Do you want a ride home?"

Megan Underwood and Yvonne Winslow had other plans. When their gaze rested on Nora’s face, she calmly said, "Mr. Sinclair is waiting for me in the parking garage."

The other four: "..."

Lily Sloan let out a loud howl, breaking the strange silence, "The pain of being single, Annie dear, I don’t have a man; please give me a ride home."

"No problem."

After exchanging a few light-hearted remarks, they each said their goodbyes and parted ways.

Following the GPS route, Nora found the nearby parking garage.

After the press conference ended, she had changed into casual wear, a new Chinese-style outfit, making her look graceful and elegant.

As Jasper Sinclair watched her gracefully approach, his heart skipped a beat.

It wasn’t until Nora was seated beside him that he regained his composure.

"How’s the taste of this private kitchen food?"

"Not bad, and the service is very attentive."

With each question and answer, Jasper Sinclair found the young woman before him adorably docile.

"There’s still time; do you want to go for a stroll?"

"Sure."

Then, Jasper ordered Louis Hayes to drive to one of The Sinclair Group’s malls.

Louis grumbled inwardly: I’m the special assistant to the CEO’s office, when did I become a driver?

Of course, he only dared to be angry but not to speak out.

On the road, Nora mentioned her encounter with Rachel Woodward.

At the driver’s seat, Louis shivered internally; he had forgotten about the task the boss’ wife asked him to investigate last time!

He nervously spoke up, "Madam, the surveillance you asked me to check has been retrieved and should be sent to your email by tomorrow night."

"Thank you, Special Assistant Hayes."

Nora didn’t understand, but Jasper Sinclair did.

His eerie voice floated into Louis Hayes’ ears, "Louis, your efficiency has been a bit slow lately. Have I given you too much work?"

"No, no, I’ll make sure to get the results to Madam by noon tomorrow!" Louis felt like crying but had no tears.
