Chapter 225: The Fake Reporter

Chapter 225: Chapter 225: The Fake Reporter

She cleared her throat and said solemnly, "I am a media reporter and I have some questions I’d like to ask you regarding the issues between you and your daughter."

There was a creak as the iron gate was opened from the inside, revealing a face full of wrinkles.

Rachel Woodward had changed from her usual proud demeanor, becoming as obedient as a little quail.

However, her eyes were as deep as the seabed, making it hard for one to fathom her thoughts.

Facing May Lawrence’s cautious demeanor, she raised the reporter’s ID hanging from her neck and introduced herself again, "I am an online journalist. A few days ago, I saw your incident with your daughter, Nora Northwood, trending online, so I came to get a better understanding of the actual situation."

Upon hearing this, May Lawrence’s eyes started to spin, as if plotting something.

Rachel’s almond-shaped eyes captured all of this, and she pressed on, saying, "If our interview goes viral, all the proceeds will go to you alone."

Hearing that it involved profits, May immediately allowed them into the house, thinking she could take this opportunity to pay off some of Quentin Ford’s gambling debts.

At this moment, to May, Rachel was no different from a duck sent to her doorstep.

Both parties harbored their own motives, with Quentin Ford still taking his afternoon nap, completely unaware that strangers had entered his home.

After entering, Rachel sat on the edge of the sofa, her back straighter than a rod, afraid her expensive clothes would be tainted by the atmosphere here.

She gave a signal to the accompanying driver, who immediately understood and set up the camera.

"Ms. Lawrence, our interview is about to begin. You can face the camera in front of you. We will adopt a question-and-answer format, allowing you to say whatever you want to."

May nodded, looking somewhat uneasy in front of the camera.

Rachel didn’t give May much preparation time. In the cramped and messy environment, she only wanted to finish the interview as soon as possible.

The first question she asked was, "What is your private relationship with your daughter, Nora Northwood, like?"

"It’s often said that a married daughter is like spilled water. Ever since little Nora married into a wealthy family, she hasn’t returned home. It’s only me and her brother who have visited her a few times."

One must admit that May isn’t completely foolish; her answers showed some degree of tact.

"Has your daughter, Nora Northwood, ever given you any support money?"

"It’s tough for her brother to continue his studies. We’ve asked Nora for tuition several times, but unfortunately, she’s unwilling to give it. I can’t bring myself to ask her again." As she said this, May patted her face, making it seem quite genuine.

"A few days ago, Nora’s studio held a conference. Why did you go to the venue but didn’t enter?"

"I saw on my phone that she was doing very well, so I wanted to join the excitement. But the people there wouldn’t let me in, maybe because they didn’t like the old clothes I was wearing."

...

After several rounds of sharp questions, Nora was criticized by May relentlessly.

Rachel’s task concluded, she had no intention of lingering further at this place.

Before leaving, May anxiously grabbed her arm, "Miss, when will you give me the profit you mentioned?"

Rachel’s expression subtly changed, her thick bangs partially covering her furrowed brow, "We have to wait until after the video broadcasts. I explained to you earlier that there would only be profits if it goes viral."

Hearing this, May was alarmed!

She quickly blocked the door, barring Rachel’s way, as if determined not to let her leave without seeing the money.
