Chapter 247: Chapter 247: The Anniversary Is Approaching
Unlike Nora Northwood, Jasper Sinclair maintained a leisurely composure.
Seeing she was silent, he smoothed things over, saying, "I still want to enjoy a little more of our time together."
Southwood Court.
"My parents’ anniversary of their death is coming up." Jasper Sinclair suddenly said.
His deceased parents were buried in the cemetery.
Nora saw the emptiness in his eyes and gently embraced him, "When shall we visit mom and dad?"
"The day after tomorrow."
"Alright, I’ll go with you." Nora’s tone was filled with sincerity.
Jasper hugged her back, resting his weight on her shoulder, seeking a moment of emptiness.
The anniversary of the death, on that day.
The two of them went to the cemetery early in the morning. Throughout the journey, Jasper’s mood was somewhat low.
Nora tried to find topics to ease the oppressive atmosphere: "Jasper, have you thought about how you will introduce your wife to mom and dad?"
Her words enlightened Jasper; it seemed he had never considered this.
Nora continued, "Will you say Grandma Sinclair brought me back? Or that it was a marriage arranged by a blind date?"
Between the two, both were and weren’t entirely true.
After a while, Jasper finally said, "She’s someone who can accompany me for a lifetime."
He still remembered the day Nora said she wanted children.
"Jasper, every year from now on, I’ll join you in visiting mom and dad, okay?"
"Okay."
Nora’s words filled Jasper’s heart with warmth.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in the parking lot near the cemetery.
The two got out one after the other, both dressed in black with dark hair, looking from afar like a pair of noble lovers.
Nora held flowers in one hand and tightly grasped Jasper’s with the other, saying, "Let’s go."
Perhaps because they arrived early, there weren’t many people inside the cemetery.
The two walked together towards the inside.
In the past, Jasper always felt heavy-hearted when visiting his parents, but this time, with Nora’s company, his state was not as tense.
Soon, they reached the headstone.
Nora divided the chrysanthemums she was holding, giving a bundle to Jasper, and then, both crouched down to place them by the gravestone.
Jasper took a handkerchief from his pocket and slowly wiped the dust off the gravestone.
Only after finishing did he finally speak, "Dad, mom, I’m here with your daughter-in-law to see you."
"Her name is Nora Northwood, a very gentle girl. If you were alive, you’d surely like her as much as Grandma..."
Jasper’s mouth grew dry as he recounted many changes from the past year.
Nora listened quietly, recalling the time from when they first met until now, realizing just a few more months would make it a full year.
After the man finished talking, she solemnly said, "Dad, mom, I’m Nora Northwood. I’m sorry to meet you in this way. Jasper and I are doing well, and in the days to come, I’ll take good care of him for you."
Then, Nora went back to the car first, allowing Jasper some time alone there.
When they met again, she caught a faint smell of tobacco, "Jasper, you’ve been smoking."
"Is the smell strong?"
"No, just a little."
Jasper almost forgot that her sensitivity to smells was more than double that of ordinary people, so he added, "I won’t smoke next time."
Nora roughly understood that he wasn’t addicted to smoking, probably just wanted to vent his emotions in this way.
