Chapter 175: Chapter 175: This Was a Gift from His Brother-in-Law
He placed Nora Northwood on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
Then Jasper Sinclair walked to the edge of the balcony, opened his laptop, and watched the surveillance footage.
Seeing the shadowy figure sneaking around in the dark, a slight smile crept onto his lips. Sure enough, the prey had taken the bait.
At that moment in the study, Spencer Ford was quietly rummaging for valuables.
The computer was too big; he couldn’t carry it away.
As he moved forward, he suddenly noticed what seemed to be a man’s watch on the side of a cabinet.
He walked over for a closer look. Although he didn’t recognize the brand, how could the watch Jasper Sinclair wore be cheap?
Grinning greedily, he glanced around to make sure no one was watching and there were no cameras, then stealthily tucked it into his coat.
Thinking he had done it without leaving a trace, he carefully closed the door and returned to his room to sleep.
Jasper Sinclair pressed his lips together, and when he looked up again, although there was a smile in his eyes, the chilling coldness couldn’t be ignored. If Spencer were present, he would definitely shiver unconsciously.
"You certainly didn’t disappoint me, let’s keep it up in the future," he murmured softly.
Then he closed the laptop and went to bed, holding Nora Northwood as they slept.
The next day was the weekend. Spencer Ford mentioned wanting to go out and play. Jasper Sinclair didn’t say much; he just asked if he needed Sid to take him.
"No need, I’ve arranged to meet classmates. The mall isn’t far from here; I’ll just walk to get some exercise." He shook his head like a rattle.
How could Spencer possibly allow that man to pick him up when he had big plans to accomplish?
Seeing his refusal, this time Jasper didn’t insist and agreed with a nod.
Once he left Southwood Court, he saw Lynn Lucas waiting nearby.
"Over here!" Lynn waved at him.
"Quick, let’s go." Spencer urged him to leave the area. If Jasper Sinclair found out, wouldn’t that be troublesome?
Lynn understood and quickly left with him.
The two of them headed to the largest mall, where they were sure to find second-hand goods vendors.
"Is this broken watch really worth that much? You must have taken the wrong one." Lynn was a bit uneasy.
Hearing such doubts, Spencer sneered, "What do you know? This is the watch Jasper Sinclair wears. Do you know who Jasper Sinclair is? My brother-in-law’s watch couldn’t possibly be cheap!"
"Your brother-in-law’s? Then aren’t you just stealing your brother-in-law’s watch to sell it?"
Lynn hesitated a bit. This kid asked him to take him to the mall to exchange money, saying he found something valuable at home and could surely make a good profit selling it second-hand.
But when he heard it was someone else’s brother-in-law’s, if it were truly that valuable, how could it be given away so casually?
When Spencer heard him say he stole Jasper’s watch, a surge of pride came over him.
"What nonsense are you talking? My brother-in-law is very good to me; when I admired this watch the other day, he just gave it to me."
When he lied, his expression was completely normal.
Lynn didn’t doubt him, figuring that if it was so valuable, how could it be so easily taken by someone?
They went to the second-hand goods counter, and the staff glanced at the watch.
Then looked at Spencer, hesitating slightly, "Young man, this must be from your family. This item is too valuable, and without a guardian, we can’t exchange it for you."
It was a limited edition watch, worth millions. How dare they exchange it when a child brought it in for money?
"Is this item really so expensive?" Lynn was stunned.
Looking at this seemingly plain watch, he hadn’t expected it to be such a pricey item.
