Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Swallowing an Unspoken Loss
After about half an hour, the person in charge finally returned with the result.
Jenson Sinclair glanced provocatively at Jasper Sinclair, unable to hide the smugness in his eyes.
He had already bribed the people here, and the bid was definitely his. He promised to give them more money, and they agreed.
Today’s auction was nothing more than a formality.
"The results of the auction are out." Upon hearing the person in charge say this, Jenson Sinclair was almost ready to wag his tail: "The winner of this land bid is President Sinclair of the Sinclair Family, congratulations."
He was about to stand up, but hearing it was President Sinclair of the Sinclair Family, the smile on his face froze.
Impossible!
Jasper Sinclair ignored him, stood up to express his gratitude, and prepared to sign the contract.
Seeing the person in charge leaving, Jenson Sinclair couldn’t care about anything else and hurriedly chased after him: "What’s going on here? Mr. Forrest clearly took my money and said this bid was ours!"
That was fifty thousand! It had been agreed that the auction would just be for show, and Mr. Forrest would secretly ensure he got the cooperation rights.
The person in charge looked at him as if seeing an idiot.
"You’ll have to talk to Mr. Forrest about that. I’m just responsible for announcing the result agreed upon by Mr. Forrest and the board members, nothing more."
He shook off Jenson Sinclair’s hand, turned, and went back to the office.
Jenson Sinclair was furious and was about to rush into Mr. Forrest’s office, but Jasper Sinclair was inside signing the contract with them.
The security guards outside quickly stopped him.
"Who are you?" Their scrutinizing eyes looked at him. He resisted the urge.
Taking a deep breath, he adjusted his demeanor before speaking: "I’m a participant in this bid, and I have some things I’d like to discuss with Mr. Forrest privately."
Inside, Mr. Forrest naturally heard the commotion outside, rubbing his temples, feeling a bit speechless.
"Your cousin really is interesting." He chuckled helplessly and shook his head: "He gave me fifty thousand as a kickback, asking me to approve his proposal."
Jasper Sinclair couldn’t help but laugh, is Jenson Sinclair brainless?
Looks like these years spent abroad were a waste.
"What does Mr. Forrest mean?" He raised his glass and clinked it with Mr. Forrest.
"The way President Sinclair puts it, I naturally intend to collaborate with you. As for your cousin, I’m really powerless; I returned his money several times, but he kept transferring it to my account."
Mr. Forrest had no choice but to temporarily placate Jenson Sinclair, saying to wait for good news, just to stop him from bothering.
"Since he transferred it, Mr. Forrest should just keep it. He can’t make a big fuss about it in front of others, and if it’s spread, he would be the one embarrassed."
His words made Mr. Forrest’s eyes light up, right, he had overlooked this point.
The clinking of glasses marked the delightful agreement between the two.
After waiting for over half an hour, Jenson Sinclair finally saw Mr. Forrest and the others exit.
Jasper Sinclair merely gave him a disdainful glance, then left.
"Mr. Forrest, my..."
"What does little President Sinclair want to say? Oh, bless my memory, I spent your fifty thousand treating the board to a meal. But you know, Creston indeed has less capital compared to The Sinclair Group, and the senior board members didn’t agree. I couldn’t just force it through, right?"
He spoke regretfully, but Jenson Sinclair detected the perfunctory tone.
Grinding his teeth, he realized his company couldn’t compete with Jasper Sinclair’s. The thought triggered an inexplicable anger.
But with things as they stand, he had no choice but to swallow the loss quietly.
