Chapter 102: Chapter 102: A Modest Goal of One Million a Month
Lily Sloan thought it over and sighed, pulling her friend inside to talk about the matter.
"I feel like I’ve wronged you, but I only recently discovered that my uncle seems to like you."
Those words left Nora Northwood completely stunned.
Her uncle likes her? How could that be!
"You must be mistaken. My uncle and I have never really interacted; how could he possibly like me."
She waved her hand, not believing it at all, but if it were true, then her uncle’s recent enthusiasm might be explainable.
"How is it impossible? He admitted it himself!"
The room fell into silence, leaving Nora even more unsure of what to say.
It turns out there really isn’t such a thing as a free favor. Luckily, she felt embarrassed at the time and didn’t trouble her uncle with anything, or else this might have been quite a hassle.
"I know you’re not interested in him, and if you feel bothered by this, I’ll explain it clearly to my mom."
"No, it’s alright. I’ll find a chance to clarify things with my uncle. Don’t bother Auntie."
She took a deep breath and composed herself, saying nothing more.
Guests arrived outside, and she stood up to get busy.
...
In the office on the top floor of Elite.
Yuna Hughes sat calmly on the sofa.
The man in front of her was pacing back and forth, worried, while she remained unfazed, sipping her coffee.
"What should we do now? Things have gotten out of hand, and no one can clean up this mess!"
Due to the incident, Elite’s reputation had plummeted, but even in this situation, Yuna wasn’t worried, which only added fuel to his anger.
"Why rush? Even without this incident, Elite’s product line was inferior." Her blunt words made the manager’s face darken: "But now that I’m here, just leave everything to me in the future."
Ambition burned intensely in her eyes.
Since leaving the master, she had slowly calmed down.
Before, she had indeed been protected too well by the master. Because she lost both her parents, the master felt sorry for her, so he accommodated her every demand.
It was because of this that she developed such a carefree personality.
She even forgot the habits forged from being with the master.
Ironically, since leaving the master’s side, she had come to understand everything.
Perhaps her feelings for Vincent Morgan weren’t love, but a habitual sense of possession, and what Nora did was simply take what belonged to her.
She scoffed; how foolish she had been.
"Just you? Are you joking?" The man sneered, curling his lips; he had dealt with Yuna before.
"Whether it’s a joke or not, we’ll only know by trying. I promise to bring in a profit of one million within a month. My demands are simple: when the time comes, the design director position will be mine."
Determination filled Yuna’s eyes; to her, that million was nothing.
If the reputation was bad, then they would let the products speak!
"Alright, as long as you can achieve that, I’ll immediately announce you as the new design director."
Snorting coldly at Yuna, the boss didn’t believe her at all, thinking she was just playing around. But with a month’s time, it’d be clear what was what after a trial.
She stood up, striding out of the office.
Whenever she thought of Nora, she couldn’t help but coldly clench her face.
She resolved to defeat Nora; even for the sake of her insignificant pride, she wouldn’t lose to her!
Lifting her head, she stepped firmly back into her office.
In that moment, she was no longer the Yuna of the past; she was determined to ascend on her own, without relying on the master’s abilities!
