Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Recognizing Her as a Goddaughter
Nora Northwood had been searching for a suitable venue for quite some time.
She always wanted a place with a suitable storefront, where the second floor could be a simple office area, and the first floor could be designed as an offline retail store.
But none of the properties she found were satisfactory.
That day, after breakfast, just as she was about to leave, Jasper Sinclair suddenly stopped her.
Looking at his face, she recalled how he had ’humiliated’ her before at the hotel.
"A friend of mine has a storefront for rent. I thought since you’re looking for a new place, you might want to check it out."
"Okay." She didn’t refuse, after all, she was indeed looking for a new store.
As for what happened last night, neither of them mentioned it, as if by mutual agreement.
Jasper felt a bit guilty and added, "If you like it, let me know and I’ll cover the rent."
"No need, I can afford it. Just tell me how much it is."
After saying that, she put on her shoes and left.
He sighed and dialed Louis Hayes’ number.
"What can I do for you, boss?" Louis was becoming more proactive, realizing that whenever the boss called him, it was likely related to something the boss’ lady needed.
Sure enough, President Sinclair immediately said, "The Lockwood Family is hosting a banquet soon. Give them a reminder; they know what to do."
Nora liked interacting with perfumers, so this time she might be more satisfied.
Louis was momentarily stunned, then quickly agreed.
When he called, Zane Lockwood was momentarily taken aback. Even if Louis hadn’t called, he had already decided to invite Nora to the banquet. After the previous incident, this would also be a favor to President Sinclair.
But knowing it was indeed President Sinclair’s intention made him even more cautious.
Looks like this Nora Northwood isn’t someone to be underestimated.
He sighed as he looked at his sulking daughter on the sofa.
"You, you’ve become so arrogant that you lose your sense when someone gets the better of you. Is this what I taught you?"
Zane knew his daughter’s temperament well.
For the past twenty years, everything had gone smoothly for her. People knew she was Zane Lockwood’s daughter, and instinctively showed her respect.
With everyone praising her, she slowly became arrogant, partly due to his lack of discipline.
Not having faced setbacks for so many years, she went crazy over such a minor hurdle now.
"What did you teach me? Didn’t you just teach me to say I’m Zane Lockwood’s daughter when I’m out?" Jade Lockwood scoffed petulantly.
"..." Zane was awkwardly speechless, realizing it was indeed true.
He cleared his throat to disguise the embarrassment, unsure of what to say for a moment.
"At the banquet our family is hosting the day after tomorrow, that young lady will also be attending. You’d better wise up." He couldn’t help but bring it up, and after a while, he added, "I think President Sinclair is interested in that girl. Don’t concern yourself with marriage matters anymore; I plan on adopting her as a goddaughter, and then..."
"What kind of father are you? I’m your daughter, and you won’t help me, but you want to adopt an outsider!"
Jade found it hard to accept.
It was bad enough that the engagement was called off, but for her father to suggest adopting Nora as a goddaughter...?
In fact, Zane had a simple plan—by adopting Nora as a goddaughter, even if she ended up with Jasper, it would be beneficial for his business.
It wouldn’t even harm Jade’s marriage prospects, as they’d be connected to the Sinclair Family.
"Help you? How? It’s obvious he isn’t interested in you." He exhaled sharply, knowing his daughter would be the death of him eventually.
"But..."
"I’ve said my piece. If you cause any trouble at the banquet, don’t blame me for not being understanding as a father!"
