Chapter 119: Call the Police if It Gets Out of Hand

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Call the Police if It Gets Out of Hand

"Where did I say anything wrong? Which part isn’t true?" Quentin Ford stiffly retorted.

As he spoke, he forcefully pulled May Lawrence forward to speak for him.

Nora Northwood stood there silently, watching May.

If May really twisted the truth today and sided with Quentin Ford, perhaps the bond between mother and daughter would be severed.

"Nora, your Uncle Ford has no choice, you have the means, just lend us a little, okay?"

"Lend? I’ve spent so much money on her, isn’t it right for her to respect me with some money? What’s all this talk of lending, it should all be mine!"

Quentin Ford spat, his unreasonable manner made everyone around him gnash their teeth.

May Lawrence opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but eventually closed it.

Nora was utterly disappointed in her, taking a deep breath and lifting her head.

She had never defied Quentin Ford before, but it was different now.

She was married, freed from that home, and had her own life.

"You used my marriage as leverage before, demanded a dowry of eighteen thousand eight hundred, and I gave it."

"Then you had my mother lie about her health to trick me out of ten thousand, have you forgotten all that?"

"You said you raised me, how did you raise me? I even earned the money for my night classes myself."

The only consoling fact was that Quentin Ford had never laid a hand on her, but what else could be said besides that?

Nora’s words resonated deeply within the hearts of everyone present.

A young girl being treated like this, is this family even human?

Especially the mother, not siding with her daughter, but instead joining others to deceive her out of money.

The whispers of the surrounding crowd made May Lawrence’s face flush red, yet she just stood quietly at the side without uttering a word in Nora’s defense.

With a sigh, when Nora looked up again her eyes were filled with disappointment.

"There is no money to give, I’ve given all that I can, if you want to cause a scene, then make it a big one, I am not afraid to be affected, but you might not feel the same."

Her words were clear, at this time Spencer was just about to begin school.

If something went wrong now, this matter might as well be forgotten.

Quentin Ford was clearly frightened by her words, initially he was just angry and hadn’t thought it through.

Now after the sly girl spoke, he did calm down a bit.

But without the money, those people surely would look down on him, he wisely kept silent and just nudged May Lawrence with his elbow.

May knew what he meant, he wanted her to ask for the money instead.

Opening her mouth, she didn’t know what to say for a moment, finally seeing Quentin’s impatience, she gritted her teeth and resolved to speak.

"Nora..."

"Stop, I’ve already said I have no money. I’m married, but I’m not a fool, and I’m not going to take my husband’s money to let you gamble. If you keep causing trouble, I’ll have no choice but to call the police."

Quentin stood up and glared at her viciously.

Even though he was dissatisfied, he had no choice but to temporarily relent, realizing he had underestimated this stubborn girl today.

He never imagined that after marriage, her temper would become so tough.

Glancing at Nora, he left with May, and the crowd in the neighborhood also dispersed.

Sid, seeing everyone leave, discreetly followed and left as well.

After turning around, he pulled out his phone to send President Sinclair a message.

"The Young Madam has gone up."

Jasper Sinclair looked at the phone, just as he closed the page, Nora Northwood opened the door and came in.
