Chapter 150 Contacting the Tool

Shi Xinxin did not take Yan Hao's medicine. Instead, she stared directly at him, her emotions unreadable.

Yan Hao couldn't help but feel a little flustered. He placed the medicine on the bedside table. "Xinxin, if you don't want to take your medicine now, I can get you some preserved fruits from the front desk."

"No need." As Yan Hao turned, Shi Xinxin saw the small phone in his white coat pocket.

She calmed herself, and in that instant, many complete plans formed in her mind.

"I was just thinking about something and didn't react in time," Shi Xinxin explained with a straight face. She leaned forward slightly, pretending not to see Sheng Chenjin's hand reaching out to help her, and reached for the medicine bowl on the bedside table.

Suddenly, Shi Xinxin's supporting arm went weak. She slumped down, and the medicine bowl she had just grasped was smashed hard onto the floor!

The clatter was extremely loud!

Sheng Chenjin ignored the medicine spilled all over the floor and rushed forward, anxious. "Xinxin, are you burned anywhere?"

Shi Xinxin wiggled her fingers, which were stained with medicine, and smiled, shaking her head. "I'm fine. I just suddenly lost my strength for a moment."

Her peripheral vision was fixed on Yan Hao's movements. She casually pulled the anxious Sheng Chenjin, who was beside her, to the other side of the hospital bed.

"Be careful not to step on the medicine. I'll have to clean it up later," Shi Xinxin said nonchalantly.

Yan Hao quickly went to the bathroom to get a mop. "Xinxin, you're not well right now. Rest. I'll handle this."

Shi Xinxin nodded. "Then I'll trouble you."

Her hand, hanging on the quilt, was held by Sheng Chenjin. He gently stroked Shi Xinxin's slightly reddened fingertips and asked in a low voice, "Does it really hurt? Tell me the truth."

Shi Xinxin found it amusing. "This is my hand. Do you know better than I do if it hurts?"

Sheng Chenjin was speechless. However, seeing Shi Xinxin's face filled with ease, he reluctantly believed her.

Shi Xinxin, meanwhile, subtly watched Yan Hao's actions, observing him carefully cleaning the floor.

The soft touch of Sheng Chenjin's fingers occasionally reached her, and Shi Xinxin blinked. Just as Yan Hao was about to finish mopping the area and pull his hand back, she exclaimed,

"Ow, stop rubbing my hand. It didn't hurt before, but now it really does!" Shi Xinxin gasped, frowning deeply, looking extremely uncomfortable.

Sheng Chenjin's face was filled with self-reproach. He said urgently, "I didn't know it would be like this. Xinxin, wait, I'll go get you some peppermint ointment."

Shi Xinxin nodded, and he hurried out of the ward, his retreating back showing his urgency.

Yan Hao glanced up slightly, watching the retreating figure disappear at the doorway. He sighed, "Xinxin, Sheng Chenjin really cares about you. The place that sells ointment is on the first floor, and there must be quite a queue."

Shi Xinxin's wandering mind returned. Mentioning Sheng Chenjin filled her with joy and sweetness. She nodded earnestly, "Yes, so he's probably the most suitable person I've ever met in my life."

Hearing her words, which sounded like a soliloquy or a moment of emotion, Yan Hao paused and continued mopping the floor.

Shi Xinxin shifted her gaze and saw the small phone in Yan Hao's pocket, dangling as he moved.

Yan Hao probably hadn't expected Shi Xinxin to wake up suddenly tonight, so he hadn't had time to change. He was still wearing the white coat he had worn when meeting Yin Xue.

Therefore, Shi Xinxin was certain that this small phone was definitely related to their conversation.

Yan Hao stood, looking down and dealing with the glass shards on the floor. Shi Xinxin used her hands for support and moved forward slightly, making no sound during the entire process.

As Yan Hao bent down to sweep the glass shards from under the bed, Shi Xinxin quickly and decisively reached out and swiftly snatched the half-exposed phone from Yan Hao's pocket.

The phone slipped into Shi Xinxin's hand and was smoothly placed under her pillow.

The entire series of actions was fluid, without any hesitation, decisive, and silent. Even the most sensitive person would not have noticed.

Shi Xinxin breathed a sigh of relief.

When Sheng Chenjin returned with the peppermint ointment, Yan Hao had just finished cleaning up the mess on the floor.

He put the mop into the cleaning machine. He initially wanted to ask more about Shi Xinxin's condition, but seeing her looking frail, he said only a few words and left, using the excuse of having something to attend to at the hospital.

It was already his off-duty time, so how could there be any urgent matters? Yan Hao sighed, gently closed the ward door, completely cutting off the sounds from inside, and turned to leave.

In the ward, Shi Xinxin propped her chin on one hand, her gaze drifting towards a patch of moonlight on the window, her mind elsewhere.

Her other hand lay on the table, where Sheng Chenjin had carefully applied the peppermint ointment. He was afraid that a small amount wouldn't be effective, so he repeatedly applied it to the reddened areas on Shi Xinxin's hand, filling the ward with a refreshing peppermint scent.

"Xinxin, you haven't eaten dinner. Is there anything you'd like to eat?"

Sheng Chenjin asked Shi Xinxin while peeling an apple.

Shi Xinxin's mind was fully occupied with the small phone under her pillow. Besides, she had been receiving IV drips while unconscious and didn't feel hungry.

"I'm not hungry right now, so I won't eat," Shi Xinxin replied concisely, her thoughts returning to the small phone.

The moment Sheng Chenjin heard her speak, he felt something was wrong. He put down what he was holding. "Xinxin, is something bothering you?"

Hearing this, Shi Xinxin's thoughts briefly returned. Looking at Sheng Chenjin, whose brows were furrowed with a hint of worry, she knew he was concerned about her. She offered him a reassuring smile.

"I'm fine. It's probably the medicine. I'm a bit sleepy right now, so I don't want to talk."

Shi Xinxin yawned as she spoke, her eyes slightly red, appearing truly exhausted.

Sheng Chenjin didn't suspect anything. He immediately went to tidy up the apple peels and carefully cut the apple into small pieces, placing a fork beside them.

"Since you're sleepy, you should sleep. Remember to finish this plate of apple later to supplement your nutrition," Sheng Chenjin instructed Shi Xinxin.

Shi Xinxin's eyes curved into a smile, and she muttered, "I'm not a three-year-old child. I understand these common sense things."

"In my eyes, you'll always be a three-year-old child," Sheng Chenjin chuckled.

His words were exactly the same as what elders would say. Shi Xinxin rolled her eyes at him.

But she quickly thought of another question and looked around. "But it's so late now, where are you planning to stay?"

She knew Sheng Chenjin wouldn't be at ease leaving her. He definitely wouldn't want to go home right now.

As expected, Sheng Chenjin raised his eyebrows. "There's no way I'm going home. I'll go back when you're fully recovered."
