Chapter 67: Chapter 67: The Sudden Sickness
Su Qinglan kept vomiting outside the cave. Her body was shaking, and she couldn’t stop. It felt like her whole stomach was turning upside down, wanting to throw everything out.
Rong Ye quickly ran to her side, panic clear on his face.
"Qinglan! Are you safe? What happened? Are you feeling uncomfortable?" he asked in a trembling voice. His hands hovered near her, not knowing what to do.
Hu Yan came beside her too. He was calmer than Rong Ye, but his face was still serious. He quickly poured some water into a small stone bowl and held it out to her.
"Drink a little," he said softly. "It might help."
But even after taking the cup, she couldn’t drink right away. Her body kept shaking, and she bent forward again, vomiting more. Her face turned pale, and cold sweat rolled down her neck.
Rong Ye’s heart was beating fast. He looked around helplessly. "Should I call the witch doctor? Or bring the elder female?" he asked nervously.
Hu Yan didn’t answer at once. He knelt beside her and gently rubbed her back. His movements were clumsy but careful, trying to comfort her. "It’s okay," he said quietly. "Let it all out first."
After a while, her stomach finally calmed down. She sat weakly on the ground, breathing slowly. Her throat hurt, and her eyes were red.
Hu Yan lifted the cup again and helped her drink the water. She took a few small sips and sighed.
"Better?" he asked.
She nodded lightly, too tired to speak.
Rong Ye still looked worried, his ears twitching nervously. "What happened to you?" he said again. "Did something bad get into your stomach?"
Su Qinglan sat quietly for a long time after she stopped vomiting. Her face was still pale, and her hands were cold. She looked down at the ground and sighed softly.
"What happened to me...?" she whispered.
She thought hard. She hadn’t eaten anything strange. Everything she cooked was fresh. And her body had been getting better since the day she came to this world.
She sighed again, rubbing her chest gently. It didn’t make sense at all.
Her body was healthy. She felt stronger every day. In the last two weeks, she had even lost almost forty pounds. Her face had become smaller, her stomach flatter, and her arms no longer soft like before. She didn’t look like an obese girl anymore.
So why now? Why suddenly this sickness?
She frowned and touched her stomach. It didn’t hurt anymore, but she could still feel something weird inside, like her body was changing again in a way she couldn’t explain.
"There’s no reason for this," she thought. "I was fine just this morning."
Su Qinglan was still sitting there, trying to think what could be the reason for her sudden sickness. Hu Yan and Rong Ye were both beside her, their faces full of worry. Neither of them spoke, afraid to make her more uncomfortable.
Just then, they heard footsteps. Lin Muyu’s voice came from behind, sounding anxious.
"What happened? Why are you vomiting so much?" she asked quickly, walking toward them.
Bai Ling was right behind her, also wearing a shocked face. Both of them looked at Su Qinglan with worry. They had been on their way to meet her, but seeing her pale face and the ground full of vomit made their hearts tighten.
Lin Muyu knelt beside her and asked, "Qinglan, what happened?"
Su Qinglan shook her head slowly. "I don’t know... I suddenly felt nauseous and started vomiting. It came out of nowhere."
Lin Muyu looked at her up and down for a while, then suddenly blurted out, "Are you having cubs?"
Her words made everyone freeze.
Su Qinglan’s eyes widened. "What... what did you say?"
Hu Yan’s whole body went stiff. Even Rong Ye, who didn’t really understand, looked shocked.
"How could it be possible?" Su Qinglan muttered, but her voice grew smaller. She turned to Hu Yan, who was too stunned to speak.
"I don’t know," she said again, almost whispering now.
But her heart started to beat faster. She suddenly thought of something... and realized she could also check her body.
So, she closed her eyes and let her plant-type energy flow through her body. She carefully checked every part, feeling for any strange changes.
Then she stopped. Her eyes flew open, full of disbelief.
It was true.
Her hand slowly went to her stomach. She touched it gently, her face turning pale and red at the same time. She was shocked... but deep down, she was also happy.
She didn’t even know how to react.
When her hand rested on her stomach, everyone around her understood.
Hu Yan’s eyes went wide. Then, without thinking, he rushed forward, scooped her up into his arms, and spun her around.
He laughed loudly, his voice full of joy. "Su Qinglan! I’m so happy! I can’t believe it!"
He kissed her cheek, her forehead, and then her lips, his arms holding her tightly.
Su Qinglan blinked, still dazed. She couldn’t believe it either. She was happy and shocked at the same time, not even sure what to say.
But seeing Hu Yan’s face... that bright, overflowing smile made her heart warm.
Maybe... this was not bad at all. But how could she get pregnant so easily? Isn’t it the beast world where fertility is so rare? She and Hu Yan had only done it once.
Hu Yan was still too happy to control himself. He lifted Su Qinglan high and spun her around again and again. She almost couldn’t even touch the ground.
"Put me down! I feel dizzy!" Su Qinglan cried, holding his shoulders tightly.
But Hu Yan was too excited to notice. He laughed loudly like a little child who just got his favorite toy.
Lin Muyu quickly shouted, "Hu Yan! What are you doing! She is having cubs! If you keep spinning her like that, she will vomit again!"
Her sharp words made Hu Yan freeze. His smile faded for a second as he blinked in confusion. Then he realized what he was actually doing.
"Oh... I... I forgot..." he said with a dumb expression, realizing his mistake.
He looked like a big puppy who didn’t even know what mistake he had made. Slowly, he lowered Su Qinglan back to the ground but still held her carefully, afraid she would fall.
Su Qinglan could only sigh. She didn’t even have the strength to scold him.
