Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Leon Keane Is Angry
Ivana Monroe was very surprised and looked at Silas Joyce with suspicion. Ivy’s personality is quite nice, not as exaggeratedly unreasonable as Silas portrayed.
"It’s not that serious. Ivy is very reasonable."
"Except when it comes to you, with other matters, she indeed is quite reasonable." Silas wasn’t wrong with this statement. Ivy Linden often had Samuel Lockwood help out just for Ivana Monroe.
Samuel Lockwood is utterly devoted to his wife and wouldn’t dare defy anything Ivy Linden says. When Ivy asks, Samuel Lockwood always complies, but in front of Silas, he often sighs, complaining in a resentful tone that Ivy is probably "emotionally moving on," treating him, her husband, not even half as well as she treats Ivana Monroe.
Silas Joyce and Samuel Lockwood are not just subordinates; they share a friendship and an academic background. Samuel confides many things to Silas, who merely smiles and doesn’t feel Ivy helping Ivana is wrong in any way.
Considering Samuel’s feelings, he didn’t want to undermine him with words.
"Junior, stop rejecting me already. Do you still not trust me, your senior? Afraid that if I drop you home, I might do something untoward?" Silas joked half-heartedly.
Ivana’s cheeks flushed. "Senior is honest and upright, I can definitely trust you. I just don’t want to trouble you."
"It’s no trouble at all, really."
Seeing Ivana blushing silently, Silas continued, "If you won’t allow me to take you home, then let me follow you until you’ve picked up Timmy and are safely home. Only then will I leave."
"I need to see you safely home to be at ease."
He couldn’t rest easy with her mental state in such a condition.
Having said this much, Ivana couldn’t refuse any longer out of embarrassment.
She said, "Well, then it’s a bother, Silas, for taking me home!"
Silas’s offer was actually more troublesome than simply driving her home. Silas had already helped Ivana win a lawsuit, owing him a favor, so how could she possibly let Silas drive all the way just to follow her from behind?
That would be too pretentious.
A delighted expression appeared on Silas’s refined face.
After dropping Ivana home, Silas drove to Wellbright Kindergarten to pick up Timmy.
Leon Keane arrived at Ivana’s office building on time but didn’t see her for about fifteen minutes. He called Ivana, only to find her phone went unanswered.
Leon frowned, didn’t make a second call, and directly got out of the car, took the elevator up to Ivana’s office.
"Sir, may I ask who you are looking for?" asked a female designer who approached, her eyes widening theatrically as she saw Leon’s stunning looks.
Wow~
This handsome man is too gorgeous, outshining idol stars on TV. Is he the male lead from a comic book?
The female designer swore she had never seen a man so beautiful in her life.
He even exuded a regal presence, fulfilling females’ fantasies of romantic novel heroes.
"Ivana Monroe." Leon’s thin lips released the two words in a slightly cold tone, indicating his mood wasn’t good.
The female designer swallowed, full of envy, realizing he was here to see President Monroe.
"President Monroe has already clocked out. Sir, if you have matters to discuss, you could call her!" the female designer kindly suggested.
"Finished work? What time did she leave today?" Leon asked.
He hadn’t arrived late today. Normally, Ivana would leave around this time to pick up Timmy from Wellbright Kindergarten. Did she leave early to avoid him?
Leon’s handsome face gradually cooled. Was it because he wanted her to set aside some time, she wasn’t willing, so she didn’t even want to see him? Deliberately leaving earlier to avoid him?
The female designer thought for a moment. "It was probably about an hour ago. President Monroe seemed a bit unwell, so she left early to rest."
Hearing Ivana was unwell, Leon grew anxious, "She wasn’t feeling well? Did you just let her leave alone after work?"
No one thought to escort her?
Leon felt something was off. If Ivana left an hour ago because she was unwell, she hadn’t called him! Could it be someone else picked up Timmy from Wellbright Kindergarten?
So, she didn’t inform him?
The female designer shrank back a little, intimidated by Leon’s sharp gaze, tremblingly saying, "President Monroe didn’t go home alone. Someone accompanied her home."
Leon asked coldly, "Who took her home?"
The female designer said, "It was a gentleman, seemed to be a friend of President Monroe’s, or maybe a lawyer? I don’t know the specifics."
A lawyer?
Leon’s pupils constricted sharply, a person immediately coming to mind... Silas Joyce.
Among Ivana’s friends, besides Silas, he couldn’t think of anyone else.
Leon’s thin lips curved into an extremely cold smile, frightening the female designer who couldn’t help but think, what a terrifyingly handsome man! What’s his relation to President Monroe?
Seeing that murderous expression.
The female designer suddenly thought, is this man one of President Monroe’s suitors?
No wonder he’s so angry. The female designer could only silently send Leon a thought: President Monroe is just too outstanding. To pursue her, you’ll have to try harder! Cheering for you!
Leon turned around and left the "GK Trend" building. Sitting in the driver’s seat, he checked the time on his watch before driving away. Since it was nearly dismissal time at Wellbright Kindergarten, even rushing there might be pointless.
Instead, Leon drove to Ivana’s apartment complex, standing by the elevator without actually taking it up.
Inside the elevator bay, several youthful, elegant socialites, and wealthy ladies saw Leon and were instantly enchanted, succumbing to peach blossom fantasies. When the elevator doors opened, they went in first, noticing Leon didn’t follow, one beauty held the door button and coyly asked him.
"Sir, are you coming in?"
She hoped Leon would step in so they could find out which floor he resided on, given this was a high-end apartment complex with only one unit per floor.
"No."
Leon rejected coldly.
The beauty’s eyes couldn’t hide her disappointment as she said, "Alright then!" and pressed the metallic button to close the elevator doors.
Leon waited approximately five minutes, then Silas returned with Timmy Monroe after school.
Timmy clutched a paper bowl filled with creamy taro, eating as he shouted upon seeing Leon at the elevator entrance, "Daddy."
Silas’s smile stiffened slightly as he looked at Leon, noting Leon’s unfriendly gaze.
Having done nothing wrong, Silas had nothing to fear from Leon.
Leon strode over to Silas and the young boy. Seeing the taro in Silas’s hand, Leon’s eyes glinted with a slight mockery as he pointed to it, "Is this bought for Timmy’s mommy?"
Silas was slightly dazed, unsure why Leon was asking about it.
There was nothing to hide, so he honestly replied, "Yes, it is."
Leon reached out, taking the item from Silas’s hand, his handsome face smiling, "Thank you for bringing my son back and for thoughtfully buying something for them."
