Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Ian Passed Out
Leon Keane parted his thin lips, just about to speak, when he heard a "thud" from the phone, the sound of it hitting the ground. He then heard Auntie Chamberlain’s panicked cries from the old residence.
"Master Ian... what’s wrong? Oh no... Master Ian has fainted..."
Leon Keane’s heart panicked along with the phone call. He had never imagined that Ian Keane would react so strongly to hearing about Ivana Monroe and her son’s car accident, fainting because he couldn’t bear it.
Leon didn’t hang up. He heard the voice of the driver from the old residence and Auntie Chamberlain urging the driver to carry Ian and rush him to the hospital.
The nearest hospital to the Kane family’s old residence is "Ravenswood Second Hospital". Until all sounds from the other end disappeared, Leon hung up and immediately called Derrick Stern.
"Deploy a few bodyguards to XX Hospital, and come over yourself."
Leon had Derrick come to protect Ivana Monroe and her son. Once the arrangements were made, he drove to the Second Hospital, having confirmed with the old residence’s driver before Derrick’s arrival.
Ian was now at the Second Hospital.
Leon rushed to the Second Hospital, but before stepping into Ian’s ward, his phone rang again. Annoyed, he picked up the phone, intending to hang up, but then saw it was Ian’s mother calling.
Leon furrowed his brows and answered the call.
"Mom."
"Leon! Where are you right now? Ian fainted and was taken to the hospital, do you know that?"
Ian’s mother was nearly frantic on the other side, wishing she could board a plane immediately to be by Ian Keane’s side. She had already asked someone to book the earliest possible flight ticket for her and was on her way to the airport, but it would still take her five hours to see her beloved grandson.
Ian’s mother’s tone was one of reproach—how could Leon, as Ian’s father, not be at the old residence accompanying Ian at this late hour? Even Ian fainting, he, as a father, found out later than she, who was far away overseas?
"Mom, don’t worry. I already know, and I’m already at the Second Hospital." Leon reassured Ian’s mother.
"Ian was taken to the hospital at least ten minutes ago, and you are just now arriving. How can I not worry? Leon, I really don’t want to scold you because you’ve always been disciplined before, never neglecting Ian for outside company."
"But this time, I have to say it, it’s fine to play around with those outside flirts, but how could you not return to the old residence for several nights in a row? Have you forgotten that when you brought Ian to your side, you promised me you would take good care of him?"
"Mom, I haven’t forgotten. Not returning to the old residence was because an unusual situation occurred."
"Unusual situation? Unusual situation means you’re so enraptured by the outside flirts that you’re out of your mind. Leon! Don’t try to fool me, I called the Kane Group before calling you, and you haven’t gone to the office these past few days."
Ian’s mother had red eyes, hating the flirtatious "stray hen" who seduced Leon Keane, causing him to skip work during the day and not return to the old residence at night.
What exactly does that detestable "stray hen" want? Is she trying to ruin Leon Keane and the Kane Group? Or does she want to destroy her precious grandson... Ian?
"Mom." Leon furrowed his brow deeply. It was nighttime, Ian had fainted, and Ian’s mother was anxious. Why would she call the Kane Group asking about him?
Who was gossiping in front of Ian’s mother?
"What happened is in the past, mom doesn’t want to blame you anymore. Go to Ian now, stay by his side without leaving, mom will be in Ravenswood in five hours."
After Ian’s mother finished speaking, she hung up the phone.
Leon Keane was deeply troubled. He had originally planned to accompany Ian for a while after he woke up, to explain that Ivana Monroe and her son were fine before going to accompany them.
But now that his mother was five hours away from arriving in Ravenswood, he feared he wouldn’t be able to visit Ivana Monroe and her son tonight.
Leon walked into the ward to see Ian Keane already awake, with Auntie Chamberlain by his bedside.
"President Kane... you finally came. Master Ian suddenly fainted at the old residence, it was so frightening." Auntie Chamberlain’s eyes were red, shedding a few tears.
Leon’s dark eyes were like sharp knives, torturing Auntie Chamberlain. Other than Auntie Chamberlain, he couldn’t think of anyone else who would gossip to Ian’s mother.
Auntie Chamberlain was startled by Leon’s terrifying gaze. She was very guilty but didn’t dare to show it. When Leon came over, she made way and found an excuse to leave.
"Master Ian had little dinner, I’ll go buy some supper. It’ll be good if Master Ian gets hungry during the night."
Auntie Chamberlain slipped away.
Leon watched Auntie Chamberlain leave with a cold, ghostly gaze. He sat by Ian Keane’s bedside, withdrawing his gaze, his eyes growing gentle as he looked at Ian.
"You haven’t told me yet, how is she and Timmy?" Ian Keane looked at Leon with a pale face.
Seeing this, Leon felt a pang in his heart, raising his hand to gently stroke Ian’s head, speaking softly: "They’re all right, they’ll be discharged in a couple of days, and Timmy can go back to school. So, you don’t need to worry."
"All right, but they need to stay in the hospital for several days?" Ian Keane clearly didn’t believe Leon.
"Ivana Monroe had her forehead hit while protecting Timmy, bleeding a bit, but Timmy didn’t suffer a scratch. These days, he’s been keeping his mom company in the hospital." Leon told the truth, intentionally concealing that Ivana Monroe and her son were bullied by Old Madam Young, lest Ian Keane become worried again.
"Her forehead was hit?" Ian Keane furrowed his small brows, a random sting of pain in his heart at the thought of a car accident causing a head injury; that woman must have been in great pain and bled a lot!
If it were not so, she wouldn’t need to stay in the hospital so long.
"Yeah, there’s no one around to care for her, only your little brother guarding her bedside." Leon Keane portrayed Ivana in a pitiful light, noticing Ian Keane’s brows knitting tighter.
Leon felt a flutter in his heart—was Ian showing concern for Ivana?
This was a good start. He believed Ian would soon accept Ivana since, after all, she was his biological mother, a familial bond that couldn’t be severed.
Auntie Chamberlain walked out of the Second Hospital, found a dark, secluded corner, and made a call to Kiki.
"Miss Kiki, I’ve told Ian’s mother everything you asked me to say," Auntie Chamberlain whispered. "Ian’s mother has booked a flight to Ravenswood, and she’ll be arriving in about five hours."
Kiki sat on a soft bed, the room well-lit, and smiled like a vicious dog: "Well done. I’ve already thought of what to do next for you, and it’s printed on an A4 paper. When we meet tonight, I’ll secretly give it to you. Memorize it and then destroy the A4 paper, understand?"
