Chapter 424: Chapter 424: Self-Rescue
"Do you think... I still have a choice?" Ivana Monroe looked at him mockingly.
The man was startled for a moment and suddenly understood the meaning behind Ivana’s words. She was already in his grasp, with no choice, even without the killers outside.
The man smiled, "You’re a smart woman."
He appreciated smart women, but unfortunately, this smart woman wouldn’t live long.
Whoosh~ Bang~ Bang~
There were two more gunshots outside, not aimed at the driver’s seat this time, but at the back seats.
The sound made Ivana’s heart tremble with fear, making her think the people in the back were surely dead.
"I hate nothing more in this life than having bullets aimed at me."
The man said with disgust.
Hearing the man’s voice, Ivana couldn’t tell if she should be happy or disappointed. This man was more capable than the killers outside, but he was a psychopath.
"Woman, wait for me in the car, and I’ll take care of him."
The man reached out and stroked Ivana’s face again!
Ivana’s heart pounded wildly. Did she hear right? This man wanted to deal with the killer outside? Was he out of his mind? No, no, no, she shouldn’t think of him that way.
He was doing the right thing.
Otherwise, she might actually die at his hands.
Ivana calculated in her mind; this was her only chance to save herself.
"Woman, don’t even think about running away. Trust me, you won’t escape from my palm." The man seemed to see through Ivana’s thoughts, speaking with great confidence.
"Oh~"
Ivana agreed casually.
The man turned, jumped out of the car, and used the car’s body as a shield. He squatted, slowly moving from the rear of the car, removing his head, his hand already feeling the gun, ready to take a lethal shot at the position of the other killer.
Suddenly~
The exhaust from the car tail spewed out.
Whoosh~
The car started, moving at lightning speed.
"Damn!" The man was exposed and swore, "That damn woman has no sense of decency."
Didn’t she promise him?
Why run away?
The man was furious, realizing his exposure was a dangerous sign. Professional killers would often fire blank shots first because the enemy was in the dark, and he was in the open.
Bang~ Bang~ Bang~
The man fired several blank shots in the enemy’s direction.
The enemy’s guns, originally aimed at the tires of Ivana’s car, hadn’t had the chance to shoot them out yet when they heard gunfire.
Their first reaction was... Ivana’s bodyguards had arrived.
They hid instantly in the dark, watching as Ivana drove away.
The same was true for the man. He was very clear that if he fired, he’d be giving Ivana a chance to escape, but if he didn’t, the enemy would find him, and the guns would be aimed at his chest.
The man didn’t want to gamble with luck!
Bang bang bang!
Bang bang bang!
Gunfire echoed throughout the garage.
Ivana, holding her breath, risking her life, drove out of the garage at top speed. Luckily, it wasn’t rush hour, and the garage was clear.
Ivana drove onto the road, her heart trembling, unable to calm down for a long time. Perhaps because of the tension, she ran three red lights in a row.
Several cars nearly collided with her luxury car, stopping in shock and cursing at the speeding red Bugatti Veyron.
"Damn! Are you crazy? Running a red light and speeding?"
"Damn it, having money makes you awesome, huh?"
"Shit~ Do you have a death wish?"
"Hey, 911? Someone’s driving a red Bugatti Veyron running red lights. I think they’re crazy..."
A moment later.
The sound of police sirens chased after Ivana’s Bugatti Veyron.
Ivana was forced to stop.
The police initially intended to give Ivana a good scolding, but seeing the car window shot through, a force not caused by a regular blunt object, but only bullets, could create such explosive power.
The police were momentarily stunned.
"Knock knock knock!"
The police tapped on the driver’s side window.
Ivana rolled down the bullet-pierced window, her beautiful face pale, drenched in cold sweat. Seeing the police, her lips trembled, "Someone’s trying to kill me."
If not for the bullet-pierced window, the police would likely think Ivana was delusional.
But upon seeing it, his expression turned serious.
"Come with me to the station and provide a detailed account of the situation."
"Okay."
Ivana followed the police to the station, where she finally relaxed her tense nerves and explained everything that had happened.
After completing her statement.
The police arranged for an officer to escort Ivana home for her safety.
A tall, handsome man rushed into the police station, and upon seeing Ivana, he sprinted over and enveloped her in a tight embrace, "Honey~"
Leon Keane’s heart was pounding wildly.
Through his clothes, Ivana could feel his intense unease.
"It’s okay now!"
Now that Ivana’s emotions had calmed, she comforted Leon in turn.
Leon held Ivana for a long time until the police kept their distance, understanding that a husband, extremely loving of his wife, would be this distressed over her experience.
Leon released Ivana, took her home from the station, remaining silent in the car, his handsome face tense, his entire being releasing a frigid air, the chilling temperature in the car was unnerving.
Ivana shrank her shoulders, her hands clasped nervously, showing her tension.
Sigh~
After hearing from Howard Yeats, Ivana was so angry that she went to find Samuel Lockwood.
It had only been two days since her foot healed, and Leon Keane, when leaving for work in the morning, had warned her not to go out, to call him if she needed to go anywhere.
He would come and take her.
Leon was angry; she went out on her own.
Sigh sigh~
Maybe she should just apologize to ease the tension in the car?
"Um... honey... I know I was wrong."
Ivana’s voice was small, like a mosquito.
Leon turned his handsome face and glanced at her, "What was wrong?"
Ivana frowned. Wasn’t this an obvious question?
"I should have called you when I went out."
"If you knew, why didn’t you call?"
This...
Ivana hesitated, "I... forgot..."
Her mind was full of thoughts of confronting Samuel Lockwood at the time, not considering much else, and she didn’t think of Leon for another reason; he hit too hard, and she didn’t really want anything to happen to Samuel Lockwood?
No matter what? Samuel Lockwood was still Ivy’s husband now, and if he were seriously injured, Ivy would surely be sad.
Ivana’s purpose was to teach that scumbag Samuel Lockwood a lesson for Ivy and make him let Ivy go, to stop him from two-timing shamelessly.
Ivana never anticipated so much happening today, or anything so deadly.
Suddenly, Leon slammed on the brakes, and Ivana’s body lunged forward, only to be pulled back by the seatbelt.
Leon swung his long leg over, pressing against Ivana, cupping her face in his hands, his gaze a mix of anger and anguish, "You forgot... did you ever consider? If something happened to you, what would I and the two kids do?"
