Chapter 284: Chapter 284: This Is Too Much, I’m Going to Beat Her Up
"Injury report?"
"Yes."
Jack Quinn looked at Julia Sinclair from the outside; there wasn’t a trace of injury. He glanced at her body, his face flushed, and said, "Julia, may I see your injuries?"
Julia refused, saying, "No need to look, multiple severe soft tissue injuries, moderate concussion."
At this moment, the emergency room door was pushed open once more.
Shelton Hale came in, urgency written on his face, gasping, "Julia, I heard you... What? Multiple severe soft tissue injuries, along with a moderate concussion? That serious? Who pushed you down the stairs so badly?"
Jack Quinn and Shelton Hale were cousins, both of whom were admitted to medical school. Shelton Hale was Julia’s classmate, and Jack Quinn knew Julia because of Shelton Hale.
The two cousins fell for Julia at the same time.
Before Julia was wheeled into the emergency room, she only asked the doctor to inform Jack Quinn. At Mount Cygnus Hospital, it was Jack Quinn who had the most say.
She didn’t ask anyone to notify Shelton Hale, but when Shelton Hale heard Julia was injured, he rushed over in a hurry.
Shelton Hale took large strides to the bedside of the stretcher, his face mixed with concern and anger.
Seeing this, Julia’s eyes gradually reddened, a mist gathering and turning into pitiful tears, she said aggrievedly, "Aunt Kane once helped me during my hardest times in high school. Now, she’s not in good health and is often mistreated by her daughter-in-law. When I was going downstairs, I happened to run into Aunt Kane’s daughter-in-law. Out of kindness, I reminded her to respect the elderly, urging her not to agitate Aunt Kane often."
"Who knew, not only did she not listen, but she also cursed me for being nosy, telling me to go die."
Jack Quinn frowned. How could the Kane family, such a prominent family, have Leon Keane marry such a low-class shrew?
Shelton Hale, being straightforward, cursed, "The one who should die the most is her. As a daughter-in-law, doesn’t know a thing about filial piety. Didn’t her mom teach her how to be a decent person? It’s truly fucking disgusting. If I married such a woman, I’d slap her to death."
"Pah! Even if all the women in the world died, I wouldn’t want such a foul-mouthed shrew."
Hearing Shelton Hale cursing Ivana Monroe, Julia felt extremely comforted and continued, "It’s one thing for her to curse me, but she even came over to hit me. Scared, I dodged a bit, and she pushed me down the stairs."
Jack Quinn’s face instantly darkened.
Shelton’s expression wasn’t much better, clenching his fists, he said angrily, "Damn it, that bitch went too far. I’m going to thrash her."
With that, Shelton Hale turned and stormed out.
Julia didn’t want this kind of result.
Leon Keane was certainly beside Ivana now. If Shelton Hale found Ivana at this moment and charged over to hit her, Leon’s personality wouldn’t allow Shelton to lay a hand on Ivana.
Moreover, Leon would also beat Shelton up.
Shelton getting beaten was a secondary concern, but all her efforts would be for naught. Leon would think she instigated Shelton to fight. Even if she was right, it’d turn into wrong.
What’s more, the injury report hadn’t come out yet. Ivana’s ankle took the hit for her head at the stair corner, likely to be fractured. Out of sympathy for Ivana, Leon might not totally believe what she said on the stairs right now.
Only when the injury report came out could she find a chance to show it to Leon and make him believe her.
"Shelton, stop." Julia sat up excitedly, wanting to run after Shelton.
Jack Quinn was faster, reaching out and pulling Shelton back.
"Jack, what are you doing? Let me go. This is your dad’s hospital. You don’t dare to touch Ivana, but I do. At worst, I’ll get expelled," Shelton said furiously, wanting to avenge Julia.
"Shelton, don’t be impulsive. If you do that, Leon will hate me to death," Julia said, her eyes reddening.
"Julia, it was Leon’s mother who was good to you, not Leon. Why do you care if he hates you or not? As a son, marrying such a shrew and bringing her back to agitate his own mother, I consider him no better than trash," Shelton was furious.
Julia frowned, her expression a bit odd. Shelton’s words made her uncomfortable. Ivana was vile, clinging to Leon; it was fine for Shelton to curse Ivana, but he shouldn’t have cursed Leon too.
"Whether or not Leon hates me, I truly don’t care. But, Shelton, must I not care about Aunt Kane’s feelings? If you impulsively go hit Ivana, Leon would hate me even more, and he’d also hate Aunt Kane. Because he’d mistakenly think Aunt Kane asked you to do it. Do you understand?"
"Leon is just scum."
Hearing Shelton curse Leon again, Julia’s face turned dark.
Shelton was full of indignation for Julia at this moment, not noticing her expression.
Jack Quinn said, "Julia’s right, Shelton. You need to change your hot temper. Ivana’s ankle fracture landed her in our hospital. We have countless ways to deal with her. Why choose the dumbest way?"
"If you do that, not only won’t you help Julia, but you might get beaten by Leon and end up in jail, believe it or not."
Shelton cursed angrily, "shit."
Jack was right. Leon was the king at the top of the pyramid in Ravenswood. With one word, Leon could easily send him to jail, even make sure he never saw the next day’s sun.
That’s the power of influence.
Shelton’s family background was ordinary, and even his current achievements rely on the Quinn family. In front of Leon, a king, Shelton was just a stubborn bronze.
A stubborn bronze is destined to be crushed and beaten.
After his anger subsided, Shelton gradually calmed down, looking at the injured Julia with pity in his eyes. He asked Jack, "What exactly should we do to help Julia get justice?"
Jack didn’t reply and instead looked at Julia.
Julia had always been someone with ideas.
Whatever Julia wanted them to do, they would do.
Shelton saw Jack remaining silent and looking at Julia, so he also turned his gaze to Julia, "Julia, how do you want us to help you get revenge?"
Julia hurriedly shook her head, "Shelton, Senior Brother Jack, I don’t want you to help me get revenge. Please don’t harm Ivana, nor should you tamper with her sprained ankle..."
Shelton’s eyes lit up as if he got a reminder, joyfully exclaimed, "How did I not think of that? Tampering with her injured ankle, doing it in a way nobody would know, even if she limps, it would just look like a medical accident."
"Shelton, you can’t do that. If you do, I will be plagued by guilt."
"Julia, you’re too kind. Ivana pushed you down the stairs and nearly killed you, yet you’re still thinking about her? Being too kind means you’ll only be persecuted by bad people."
