Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Many People Get Divorced
Shelton Hale looked at Julia Sinclair with compassion; how could the woman he liked be so kind?
The kinder Julia Sinclair was, the more Shelton Hale wanted to strangle Ivana Monroe with his own hands.
"Shelton Hale..."
"Julia, you don’t need to say any more, I’ve already decided to do it."
Jack Quinn didn’t speak up to stop Shelton Hale this time, because he originally intended to help Julia in this way, and now that Shelton Hale volunteered to do it, it was better than him doing it personally.
He could lend Shelton Hale a helping hand, and even if Shelton’s plans were exposed, it wouldn’t implicate the Quinn family.
Julia Sinclair saw Shelton Hale’s departing figure and slightly lifted the corners of her mouth. If Ivana Monroe could end up crippled, that would be perfect; Leon Keane might initially feel sympathy for Ivana, but over time, he’d grow tired and even feel ashamed of her.
Julia’s eyes flashed with cold: Ivana Monroe, didn’t you say that a first love not reaching the end is due to destiny? A woman who can be replaced suggests she’s not that important in Leon Keane’s heart?
Very soon, I’ll return these words to you as they are.
So what if you’re married? There are plenty of people whose marriages didn’t last until the end.
Breaking up a first love isn’t shameful or ridiculous.
Divorcing is what’s shameful and laughable.
Hahaha...
Derrick Stern was waiting for someone at the registration desk on the first floor for a long time; he made a call to Leon Keane and learned that Ivana Monroe had severely sprained her foot and needed to be hospitalized, which startled him.
"How did the sprain get so severe?"
"She fell down the stairs. You immediately call Secretary Sullivan and have her come to the hospital to care for Ivana Monroe for a month; that’s her job now."
"President Kane, Secretary Sullivan she..." Derrick stammered.
Leon Keane suddenly remembered that Secretary Sullivan’s hand was injured, and although she’s working, she can only use one hand, but caring for a patient requires both hands, which makes Secretary Sullivan unfit for the task.
"Forget it, let Secretary Sullivan go home and rest! Wait until her hand injury heals, then come back to work. You help me find a reliable aunt to come over."
Secretary Sullivan had injured her hand but didn’t take sick leave, and came to work with a white bandage the next day. Leon Keane didn’t say anything at the time, but now seeing Ivana Monroe’s foot injured, plastered and lying in bed, Leon’s conscience was pricked, sympathizing with Secretary Sullivan.
Derrick Stern was really frightened by Leon Keane, thinking that with Secretary Sullivan unable to care for Ivana Monroe, the president was angry enough to send Secretary Sullivan home and never let her come back to work.
Unexpectedly, the president was to let Secretary Sullivan go home to rest and heal.
His girlfriend, injured at work, Derrick felt distressed! Now the president was voluntarily giving her sick leave, and Derrick promptly agreed.
Derrick was a talent and quickly found a very reliable aunt for Ivana Monroe; this aunt came from his parents’ home, cooking and housekeeping, and caring for people is top-notch.
Derrick made a call home.
"Derrick, are you off work? Bring your girlfriend home for dinner! Aunt Golding has prepared the meal, we’re waiting to eat with you."
"Mom, it’s not necessary, I have something to discuss with you; let Aunt Golding lend me for a month. The president’s wife sprained her foot pretty bad and needs to be hospitalized for a month, so I need a reliable aunt; obviously the outside ones aren’t as reliable as Aunt Golding from our home, so I thought..."
Derrick’s mother paused for a moment.
"I’m not the one to decide this, Aunt Golding has to agree. I’ll ask her!"
"Mom, you have to speak well of me in front of Aunt Golding! If I find an unreliable aunt out there, it’ll affect your son’s future development prospects!"
"Alright, alright, Aunt Golding heard you screaming over the phone, she’s agreed."
"Wow~ that’s great, thanks mom, thanks Aunt Golding. I’ll make Aunt Golding my kid’s god-grandmother in the future."
The laughter of Derrick’s mother and Aunt Golding could be heard over the phone.
"This kid is really sweet-talking," Derrick’s mother laughed.
Even though Aunt Golding worked as a housekeeper at Derrick’s parents’ home, she was close friends with Derrick’s mother when she was younger, and the two have a deep bond.
Later, it was because Aunt Golding’s family experienced misfortune; when Derrick’s mother found out, she brought Aunt Golding home to take care of her, and later Aunt Golding felt self-conscious about living there without contributing, so she took on all the housekeeping tasks at Derrick’s home.
Derrick’s mother, of course, refused, but Aunt Golding insisted, saying if Derrick’s mother disagreed, she would leave the Stern family home. So finally, his mother was left with no choice but to let Aunt Golding do the tasks.
Aunt Golding watched Derrick grow up; no matter what he thought, she’d long since treated him like her own child. When she learned it concerned Derrick’s future, she finished her bowl of rice, packed a few clothes, and got ready to go to the hospital.
Derrick’s mother gratefully looked at Aunt Golding: "Thank you, Jannie."
Aunt Golding shook her head with a full smile: "Not difficult at all; I’m sincerely happy to do something for Derrick. When he gets promoted and raises, I can depend on him for retirement."
Derrick’s mother knew very well the last part of Aunt Golding’s remark was a joke; Aunt Golding wasn’t short on money—she’s rather wealthy.

Mount Cygnus Hospital.
Ivana Monroe lied on the hospital bed resting, without saying a word to Leon Keane.
Dinner time.
Leon Keane asked her what she wanted to eat, but Ivana Monroe didn’t respond.
Timmy Monroe sat on the couch, silently watching Leon Keane be ignored by Ivana. His little heart felt no sympathy for Daddy—it was Daddy’s own fault for hugging another woman and not Mommy! Serves him right!
"Honey, say something! Even if you’re mad at me, you can’t be mad at your stomach! Moreover, there’s a little one here; Timmy is growing, and if he doesn’t eat, he’ll suffer malnutrition affecting his growth."
"Daddy, there are little snacks here! Timmy thinks they taste great, I can skip dinner."
On the round coffee table was a fruit tray with fresh apples and oranges, and a snack tray containing French mini breads, cream puffs, and milk cereal that could be brewed.
Timmy Monroe held a French mini bread in his hand and, as if to provoke Leon Keane, waved it in the air, tore open the outer package, and stuffed the mini bread into his mouth, nodding as he ate, praising the delicious food in the hospital ward.
Leon Keane frowned; hadn’t he already taken care of this little guy? How come at critical moments, the little guy didn’t help him out? If it were Ian, he’d definitely be crying for food at this point.
Leon Keane dreamed foolishly; if it were Ian Keane, he’d be even harder to handle than Timmy Monroe.
"Timmy, snacks won’t fill you up; kids need good meals. Your mommy will get hungry too and needs to eat. Hunger can lead to stomach problems."
"Oh right! Then Daddy, hurry up and apologize to Mommy!"
