Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Who Did It? She’s Dead Meat
"That’s not the reason."
"Then what is the reason?"
Ivana Monroe paused, looking deeply at Leon Keane. After a moment of hesitation, she said, "If I say Julia Sinclair intentionally rolled down the stairs and dragged me down, Leon, do you believe it?"
Leon Keane frowned, "Why would she do that?"
Ivana felt a wave of disappointment. Why would she do that? Didn’t Leon know?
A bitter emotion surged in Ivana’s eyes. First love! Such profound memories! Yet Leon acted as if it never existed right in front of her.
If it wasn’t for first love, why did Leon support Julia in the stairway when he saw both her and Julia falling, instead of helping his rightful wife?
Did Leon want her to utter the words "first love"?
Ivana’s heart felt pierced, and though "first love" hovered at the tip of her tongue, she couldn’t say it.
The man Leon was truly excessive. Why was he so kind to her earlier? It made her indulge in his tenderness, even though she had warned herself not to fall into it and to control her own heart. Still, she accidentally fell into the trap.
Ivana sneered, "You don’t know why she would do such a thing?"
Leon frowned, "What should I know?"
Ivana no longer wanted to talk to Leon, this man, who wasn’t honest enough and didn’t trust her.
Is there any point in continuing the conversation?
There is no need anymore.
"I’m tired, you should go back!" Ivana closed her eyes.
Seeing her angry again, Leon’s dark eyes deepened slightly, "I’ll get to the bottom of this."
Ivana internally scoffed.
She ignored him.
In the VIP ward, there were only two beds, and with Aunt Golding here, Leon couldn’t stay overnight. He said to Ivana, "Get some good rest."
He then waved to Timmy Monroe, "Timmy, come over. Go home and sleep with daddy."
Timmy Monroe shook his little head like a rattle, "Timmy doesn’t want to, Timmy wants to stay in the hospital with mommy. Daddy, remember to ask the teacher for a leave for me."
Timmy raised a finger, "For a month."
It was good for Timmy to stay by Ivana’s side.
The little guy wanted him to be with Ivana and would put in a good word for him in front of her.
Leon relented to Timmy, and he instructed Aunt Golding, "Take good care of the little master. Do a good job, and I’ll give you triple salary."
Aunt Golding quickly said, "Taking care of the little master is my duty. President Kane, there’s no need to give me triple salary. Derrick Stern has already paid me."
Aunt Golding said this with selfish intent; she hoped Leon would credit Derrick Stern.
How could Leon be anything but sharp?
He simply acknowledged, made an "um" sound, and left the VIP ward.
After Leon left, Timmy sat on the sofa with his head down, his eyes stormy, and his little fists clenched tightly. That vile woman intentionally hurt my mommy’s ankle.
Timmy initially thought Julia fell by accident, dragging his mommy with her. He never expected Julia to do it on purpose. If he had known, he would have broken the bones on Julia’s back, so she could feel what a fracture was like.
Timmy calmed his emotions, ran to Ivana’s side, and whispered, "Mommy, are you asleep? Timmy is bored, Timmy wants to watch a movie."
Ivana opened her eyes. She wasn’t asleep at all, "When mommy’s foot heals, I’ll take Timmy to the cinema. How about that?"
Timmy shook his head, "That’s not what Timmy meant. Timmy wants to borrow mommy’s phone to watch a movie."
Ivana realized, smiling as she handed the phone to Timmy.
Timmy was overjoyed. He beamed and said, "Thank you, mommy."
After saying this, he stood on his tiptoes and kissed Ivana on the cheek, "You will always be Timmy’s most beloved mommy."
The little boy’s words were so touching.
Ivana was moved, smiling as she reached out to stroke the boy’s head, "Timmy is also mommy’s most beloved child."
After saying this, Ivana couldn’t help but think of Ian Keane, that little boy.
Besides Timmy, she loved Ian the most.
Timmy, holding the phone, returned to the sofa. His innocent face looked quite happy, without any change, and his little hands quickly silenced the phone’s volume and sent an email to Ian Keane’s mailbox: "Our mommy’s ankle is fractured, and she’s in the hospital."
At this moment.
Ian, in the adjacent VIP ward, had his toys brought over by Auntie Chamberlain, per his mother’s request, including his tablet.
Ian was holding the tablet when suddenly an email popped up. He opened it to find...
Ian’s cool and handsome little face turned cold. He typed on the keyboard, "Who did it?"
Ian didn’t ask how she got the fracture. Instead, he asked who did it because he knew that if no one provoked Ivana, even if she accidentally twisted her ankle, it couldn’t lead to a fracture severe enough to require hospitalization.
Timmy, seeing Ian’s reply, brightened up. Brother was online, fantastic.
Timmy typed, "Julia, she fell intentionally in the hallway and dragged mommy down, causing her fracture. She’s really wicked."
Ian’s dark pupils narrowed rapidly.
Julia, that woman, he remembered her.
Hurting his mommy, he wouldn’t let this woman off easily.
Ian replied, "She’s dead."
Timmy, "Brother, don’t act recklessly. You know daddy has a deep relationship with Julia. Daddy saw mommy and Julia fall in the hallway, mommy couldn’t get up, and yet he helped Julia instead of sending mommy for treatment."
Ian’s fingers tightened, nearly crushing the tablet in his hands.
Auntie Chamberlain noticed Ian’s unusual expression, as if he would crush the tablet, and asked with concern, "Little Master Ian, what’s wrong?"
Ian replied coldly, "Nothing."
His tone was so harsh yet he said nothing was wrong?
Auntie Chamberlain thought to herself but didn’t dare ask when she saw Ian’s cold little face.
Ian’s mother, hearing Auntie Chamberlain’s words, turned her head towards Ian. With age affecting her eyesight, she couldn’t clearly see Ian’s cold expression at the moment.
Assuming Ian was fine, she looked reproachfully at Auntie Chamberlain.
"Auntie Chamberlain, Little Master Ian doesn’t like being disturbed. Don’t bother him and do your work."
"Oh! Got it! I’ll remember."
Auntie Chamberlain felt displeased by Ian’s mother’s words, but as a servant, whatever the master says goes. She had no say.
Ian typed, "She and daddy have no relationship whatsoever. Daddy must be out of his mind to help her."
Ian was so angry that he ended up criticizing his father, Leon.
He fiercely wanted to deny any relation between Leon and another woman. It didn’t matter to him; he only wanted Ivana as his mommy, no other woman should dare to dream otherwise.
