Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Counterattack
Timmy agreed, saying that Daddy must have had his head messed up to do something like that.
Timmy didn’t dare tell Ian that he called Daddy to come over, to have Daddy carry Mommy for treatment, but Daddy didn’t show up.
Ian typed another line: "Bro, which room are you and Mommy in?"
Timmy: "VIP, Room 2."
Ian: "..."
Grandma is in VIP Room 1, so wouldn’t VIP Room 2 be right next door?
Ian glanced towards next door, where a wall-mounted LCD TV marked the room where Mommy was staying. He frowned, really wanting to see Ivana, to know how serious her injury was.
Ian shut off the tablet and tossed it aside, standing up.
"I’m going to the restroom."
Ian walked towards the door of the hospital room.
"Ian, there’s a bathroom in the room," said his mother.
"..." Auntie Chamberlain didn’t say anything to avoid the embarrassment.
"The bathroom in the room is for women; I’m a man, I need to go to the men’s room," Ian said coldly.
Ian left the room and headed towards the room next door.
His mother was stunned for a moment, then asked Auntie Chamberlain, "Is the bathroom in the room gender-specific?"
The room only had one bathroom. Apparently, it had a urinal inside, so it should be a unisex bathroom, but Ian refused to use it.
What could Auntie Chamberlain say?
Auntie Chamberlain said, "Maybe young master Ian thought because you and I are women, he assumed the bathroom in the room was for women only."
His mother suddenly said, "What are you standing here for? Go and follow Ian. This is a hospital, how would Ian know where the men’s room is? Plus, hospitals aren’t safe. I often see news about child trafficking, hurry, hurry."
His mother thought of those child trafficking incidents. Some people especially like to kidnap children her grandson’s age to either raise them or break their limbs for begging, or even for organ trafficking.
His mother felt a surge of fear in her heart. Seeing Auntie Chamberlain run out of the room, she almost wanted to get up and go too.
Auntie Chamberlain ran out but didn’t see Ian. Room 2 was right next door; Ian had turned the corner upon exit, so Auntie was late.
Auntie Chamberlain searched everywhere for the men’s room.
The VIP area only had three rooms, with no restrooms around.
Auntie Chamberlain went to the VIP duty doctor’s station to inquire.
The duty doctor looked at her strangely, "This is the VIP room area, every room has a private bathroom."
Auntie Chamberlain anxiously said, "Doctor, that’s not what I meant. Our little master went out to use the bathroom; I’m worried he might wander off."
The duty doctor understood, pointing in a direction, "Go forward, turn left at the end, there’s a restroom over there."
Auntie Chamberlain didn’t even say "thank you," turning to run and find Ian.
At this moment.
Ian was already in Room 2.
His arrival made Ivana a bit surprised.
"Ian, what are you doing here?" Ivana straightened up, trying to sit up.
As she moved, her foot shifted, and she let out a gasp of pain.
Ian nervously approached Ivana’s bed, placing his tiny hand on her shoulder and somewhat scolded, "Your foot is hurt so badly, and you still move?"
Timmy ran over, "Mommy, Mommy, are you okay?"
Ivana’s ankle pain subsided a lot. She looked up at the two almost identical little boys, thinking how others would find it really hard to tell them apart.
Right now, Ivana could almost instantly differentiate, with Ian’s tightly furrowed brows and cool little expression, he looked very much like Leon Keane.
Timmy’s innocent little face was full of tender concern, looking at her with empathy.
Ivana looked at the two kids and smiled, "Mommy is okay."
She smiled at Ian as well, "Mommy’s foot injury isn’t that serious."
Ian just huffed and said nothing more.
Aunt Golding finished tidying up the dining table and was momentarily stunned when she saw Ian suddenly come in, mistaking him for Timmy.
She didn’t recall seeing Timmy go out, and sure enough, saw Timmy still sitting on the couch.
Aunt Golding realized that the boy who came in... must be Timmy’s twin brother.
Seeing both kids standing in front of Ivana’s bed, deeply caring for her, Aunt Golding felt a sense of gratitude. Ivana was truly blessed to have given birth to such handsome and thoughtful sons.
Without Ian saying, Ivana could roughly guess that Ian was next door. When Timmy took her phone earlier, it wasn’t to watch movies, but to contact Ian.
Timmy really shouldn’t have done that.
His mother didn’t like her very much. Now that Ian was here, if his mother found out, she would surely be displeased.
His mother being angry with her was one thing; dealing with her, she could handle.
What Ivana was most afraid of was his mother targeting Timmy.
Ivana said to Ian, "Mommy is fine, Ian, how’s your Grandma doing?"
Ian’s eyes looked a bit red, possibly out of concern for Ivana or his grandmother, "She’s okay."
Ivana nodded, "Ian, your Grandma just came out of surgery. This is when she needs company the most. You should go back and be with her!"
Ian frowned, "Mommy doesn’t want me here?"
Ivana was surprised, not expecting such direct words from a child, resembling Leon’s way of hitting straight at the point.
How could she not welcome him?
She just didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble.
Ivana shook her head, "No, Mommy will always welcome you, always love you. It’s just that Mommy is thinking more, Ian, do you understand?"
Ian was a very clever child, Ivana suddenly realized she couldn’t use the way one talks to a child with Ian.
Because Ian wasn’t as easily coaxed.
Ivana frowned again, wondering if her past feelings of Ian being easy to coax were just an illusion?
Timmy stayed silent beside them, hoping that Ian could spend more time with Mommy.
But Mommy had her own considerations.
When Ian heard Ivana say she would always like him, his somewhat cold expression eased considerably. He willingly bent down and left a kiss on her face, "Mommy, you have to always remember what you said now."
After saying that, Ian turned and left Ivana’s hospital room.
Ivana was quite surprised that the child... kissed her proactively?
Ivana couldn’t help but smile, feeling warm at heart, with a hint of sadness around her nose. She would certainly always remember what she said now, because the longer she spent time with Ian, the more she felt that Ian truly was her flesh and blood.
She couldn’t help but like him.
Ivana even thought that if two years later, she and Leon really split, the one she would miss the most would probably be Ian.
Room 1.
His mother was anxiously waiting on the bed, unable to bear it any longer, she made a call to Auntie Chamberlain. Once connected, she could hear Chamberlain panting on the line.
His mother hurriedly asked, "Have you caught up with Ian?"
