Chapter 290: Chapter 290: You Are Our Best Choice
Auntie Chamberlain: "He should be caught up."
Leon’s mother was very dissatisfied with Auntie Chamberlain’s answer. What does ’should be caught up’ mean? She wanted a definite answer, her voice growing angrier, "Did you catch up with him or not?"
Auntie Chamberlain stood outside the men’s restroom, startled by Leon’s mother’s voice, unsure of herself, "Caught up, caught up, Ian is in the men’s restroom, I can’t go in."
Leon’s mother asked again, "Are you sure you caught up? Did you see Ian go into the men’s restroom?"
Auntie Chamberlain hadn’t seen it, but she’d already told Leon’s mother that he was caught up, so if she said she hadn’t seen it, she’d be slapping herself in the face. Leon’s mother would definitely lose her temper with her.
Auntie Chamberlain decided to run with the lie, "Madam, I’m sure I caught up and I saw Ian go into the men’s restroom."
Leon’s mother suddenly fell silent.
She heard the sound of a door being pushed, looked up, and saw Ian Keane walk in. She scrutinized the little boy carefully, confirming that he was indeed her dear grandson and not Timmy Monroe. Her face turned extremely sour.
That damned Auntie Chamberlain, she actually lied to her?
Auntie Chamberlain didn’t hear Leon’s mother speaking on the phone anymore. She thought Leon’s mother believed her and said, "Madam, don’t worry! I’ll bring Ian back to you, I’ll hang up now, someone’s coming out of the men’s room, I’ll go ask him about Ian’s situation in the restroom."
Leon’s mother suddenly felt very resentful towards Auntie Chamberlain, Ian had come back on his own, and Auntie Chamberlain was still lying with her eyes open, deliberately deceiving her.
Leon’s mother was very angry, "Fine, I’ll wait for you to bring Ian back. If you can’t bring him back, don’t come back, keep looking."
Leon’s mother hung up the phone first.
Auntie Chamberlain held her phone, dazed, feeling that Leon’s mother’s words had an underlying meaning, as if she had guessed that she was lying.
Auntie Chamberlain shook her head, no way, Leon’s mother was in the ward, how could she know she was lying? She must be overthinking it, the primary task now is to find Ian and bring him to Leon’s mother.
Auntie Chamberlain waited a long time but never saw Ian come out of the men’s restroom. She was getting extremely anxious, standing at the door and calling inside several times, but Ian did not respond to her.
Could it be that Ian isn’t in there?
Auntie Chamberlain saw a male doctor coming to use the restroom, she immediately stopped him, pleading, "Could you please go in and check if there’s a little boy inside? A very handsome and cute little boy."
The male doctor grunted a response, went inside, and did not come out immediately. He only came out after finishing his business and told Auntie Chamberlain, "No one."
Auntie Chamberlain felt like something had hit her head, "No one? How could there be no one? Doctor, could you have missed him?"
The male doctor was a bit annoyed, "If you don’t believe me, go in and check yourself."
Auntie Chamberlain actually ran inside to check, found no sign of Ian, and stood there dumbfounded, "What do I do? Ian isn’t here, could he be in another men’s restroom? That’s possible, Mount Cygnus Hospital is so big, there are so many restrooms..."
Auntie Chamberlain ran out of the men’s restroom, looking for another men’s restroom.
About half an hour later, she was nearly frantic with worry.
She searched all the men’s restrooms in the inpatient department of Mount Cygnus Hospital but didn’t find Ian. How was she going to explain this to Leon’s mother?
Auntie Chamberlain didn’t return to the ward, and Leon’s mother didn’t call her, just let Auntie Chamberlain continue her pointless, frantic search like a headless chicken, as the price of deceiving her.
When Ian came in, he had already heard the content of the phone call between Leon’s mother and Auntie Chamberlain. He pursed his lips and left Auntie Chamberlain alone, having lost any goodwill towards her after she mistreated Timmy.
Ivana called Director Arnold that night.
"Director Arnold, there’s something, I’m terribly sorry, but I can’t continue filming Sean Vaughn’s MV tomorrow."
"It’s alright, Ivana, if you have plans tomorrow, we can film the day after."
"The day after is also impossible..."
"What? Ivana, you’re not backing out, are you?"
Director Arnold sounded anxious, he knew Leon had already set a wedding date for New Year’s Day, and Ivana would be busy in the days leading up to her wedding, which he understood and could allow Ivana a few days off. But from Ivana’s tone, it seemed more complicated than just needing a few days off.
Director Arnold speculated that perhaps Leon had convinced Ivana not to shoot the MV with Sean Vaughn, after all, once married, Ivana would be Young Madam Kane, and Leon, with his substantial wealth, wouldn’t care about the penalties for breaking the contract.
"Director Arnold, that’s not what I mean, it’s just that I’ve had an accident and need at least a month, maybe longer for recovery." Ivana wanted to continue filming, but her injured foot wouldn’t allow it.
"An accident? Ivana, what happened to you?" Director Arnold’s heart was in his mouth upon hearing Ivana had an accident.
"Fractured my ankle," Ivana said.
"Oh my God! An ankle fracture, that’s serious?" Director Arnold was shocked, he further asked Ivana, "How did you fracture your ankle? Did someone deliberately push you?"
Being in the director role for so long, he had seen the ugly side of human nature.
Director Arnold thought of how Susan Heston had come to the shoot in the morning, full of hostility towards Ivana, and now Ivana suddenly had an accident. He couldn’t believe it was all a coincidence.
Could it be that Susan Heston did something to Ivana, wanting to stop her from filming Sean Vaughn’s MV?
Director Arnold thought angrily, even if Ivana didn’t film this MV, there was no way he’d let Susan Heston come back and do it.
"I was careless." Ivana didn’t tell Director Arnold the truth; the issues between Julia Sinclair and her were personal grievances, so there was no need to burden Director Arnold with such matters.
"Take care and rest well. Sean Vaughn’s MV will be kept for you until your foot heals." Sean Vaughn didn’t want to lose Ivana as the lead actress, and Director Arnold didn’t either.
After the shoot wrapped up today, once Leon announced the wedding date, he told Sean that there was no rush with the MV, giving Ivana a month or two off to get married to Leon and go on their honeymoon.
They could resume filming after the honeymoon.
This album of his could be released in April or May next year.
Director Arnold very much agreed with Sean’s suggestion; Susan Heston had already delayed the album’s progress significantly, making it impossible to release by New Year’s, and releasing a new album during the year-end festive season would be unwise.
The streets are filled with holiday songs, both old and new, creating a festive atmosphere.
In terms of promotion, you can’t really compete with the splash of the New Year’s Gala. It’s better to wait until after the New Year, when spring comes in April or May, to release the new album, followed by a series of concerts to push the album to a climax.
Director Arnold’s words made Ivana feel burdened; she was afraid of dragging down the progress of Sean Vaughn’s MV: "Director Arnold, if you find someone suitable, go with them, don’t let me hold back the progress of Sean Vaughn’s MV."
Director Arnold laughed, "No one is more suitable than you, you are our best choice."
