Chapter 297: Justice for My Mommy

Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Justice for My Mommy

Kyle, a patient who has been relying on medication to sustain life in the hospital for years, what can he possibly do?

Even if Kyle wanted to deal with Ivana and avenge Julia, he probably wouldn’t have the capability.

Hopefully, he’s just overthinking.

VIP Room No. 1.

"Why didn’t Julia come today?" Mrs. Kane noticed the doctor who came was Jack Quinn, and her face darkened. Yesterday at the hospital, Julia promised well, saying she’d spend most of her time in the ward with her.

It was only the second day since moving into the hospital, and Julia’s shadow was already missing.

Mrs. Kane felt deceived.

"She won’t be coming lately," Jack said.

"Why? She doesn’t care about me anymore?" Mrs. Kane’s voice was somewhat sharp. Suddenly, she regretted believing in Julia, the liar. If Julia couldn’t help her make Leon give up on Ivana, why was she lying here like a fool?

"Aunt Kane, please don’t be agitated. Julia has a reason not to come."

"What reason?"

"Julia was pushed down the stairs and was seriously injured. She’s now staying in a ward too."

Mrs. Kane was taken aback, not expecting Julia to have such a reason for not coming to care for her.

"This is a hospital. Who’s so hateful to attack Julia here?" The audacity is too great; deliberately injuring a doctor in a hospital would lead to a prison sentence.

"Aunt Kane..."

Jack had just spoken when Ian, sitting beside him, coldly interrupted.

"Call the police!"

"..."

Jack turned back to look at Ian, only to see the young boy’s expression was chilling and mature beyond his years, steady like a little adult.

"Reporting it would harm the hospital’s reputation, so Julia chose to swallow this loss and didn’t want to bother the police." What does a little child know? Jack didn’t take Ian seriously, but because the young boy was the Kane family’s grandson, he explained the reasoning for not calling the police.

"How can this be okay? The hospital maintains its reputation at the cost of Julia’s life? The assailant is a hospital staff? Your director fears exposure would be embarrassing? Let me tell you! Julia is a part of the Kane family, and if you don’t report this matter, you’re siding against us. Go and inform the director to consider what to do." Mrs. Kane assertively said.

Julia is part of the Kane family?

Ian’s little face turned frigid; Julia could never become part of the Kane family, and if that day ever came, he wouldn’t be a Kane.

Jack said with difficulty, "Aunt Kane, this is Julia’s decision. Please don’t make it hard for me. Besides, Julia isn’t calling the police to protect the Kane family because the woman who pushed her is... Ivana."

Mrs. Kane was shocked, trembling slightly. This woman Ivana was terrifying, actually pushing Julia down the stairs. Would Ivana one day deal with her the same way she did with Julia?

Mrs. Kane’s face went pale. If that ever happened, her old bones would surely die at Ivana’s hands.

Too frightening.

This terrifying woman could never be allowed into the Kane family.

Ian’s icy gaze: "No need for her to protect the Kane family; wrongdoers should be punished. If you don’t call the police, I will."

Ian pulled out a phone from his pocket, which Mrs. Kane had the bodyguard bring from the old Kane mansion this morning, worried that they wouldn’t be able to reach Ian if he went to the bathroom again.

Ian dialed ’911’.

Seeing this, Jack’s face changed as he strode over, reaching to take Ian’s phone and pressing the hang-up button: "Young Master Kane, stop messing around. You don’t understand adult matters, so don’t add to the chaos here."

Ian’s eyes darkened slightly, extending his hand: "Give me back the phone."

Jack: "Promise not to cause trouble, and I’ll return your phone."

Mrs. Kane, protective of her grandson, saw Jack take her grandson’s phone, feeling unsatisfied. What was wrong with Ian calling the police? It would be good to arrest Ivana!

It would help Leon see Ivana’s true face.

Mrs. Kane said, "Dr. Quinn, return the phone to Ian. He’s doing the right thing calling the police; you’re the one causing trouble."

Mrs. Kane spoke without giving Jack any face.

Jack’s face turned unpleasant.

Ian smirked slightly, seemingly mocking Jack.

Jack’s face darkened, surprised to see Ian’s expression. Was this little boy mocking him?

Impossible.

A child of six couldn’t possibly have such high intelligence.

This must be a spoiled brat coddled by Mrs. Kane.

Jack returned the phone to Ian, saying, "Making false reports could get you detained. If you want to be arrested, go ahead and report. The victim here is Julia; if she doesn’t want the police involved, you have no right to make decisions for her, understand?"

Jack deliberately tried to scare Ian.

Mrs. Kane angrily said, "Let’s see who dares to detain my grandson."

Jack was truly angered by Mrs. Kane—could she stop being a hindrance? Julia was hurt trying to help Mrs. Kane, and now Mrs. Kane was still doing what? Spoiling her grandson with no limit, only causing trouble for him and Julia?

Jack suddenly turned, looking at Mrs. Kane and said, "Indeed, there’s no one in Ravenswood who dares to detain your grandson. But Aunt Kane, are you sure you want to defy Julia’s decision? Hmm?"

Jack’s gaze sent Mrs. Kane a message that if she insisted on indulging her grandson and made things difficult for Julia, he wouldn’t help her. As for Mrs. Kane faking illness, he might expose it.

This was a threat.

Mrs. Kane saw through it clearly and truly didn’t understand why when Ivana was so aggressively hurtful to Julia, neither Dr. Quinn nor Julia was willing to call the police?

Could something have happened that she didn’t know about?

Mrs. Kane suddenly realized, maybe before Julia was pushed, there was fierce arguing atop the stairs? Julia feared exposure would have Ivana retaliate by labeling her a homewrecker?

If so, Mount Cygnus Hospital would also be implicated.

With this thought, it explained why Julia was unwilling to report.

"Ian, don’t call. Aunt Julia has her reasons for deciding this way; your help won’t aid her, and would only harm her."

The problematic teammate Mrs. Kane finally returned to normal.

Jack shook his head inwardly, really wanting to roll his eyes at Mrs. Kane.

"Who said I wanted to help her?" Ian coldly remarked, "She accused my mommy of pushing her down the stairs. I want to call the police, have them investigate the truth, and clear my mommy’s name."

Ian’s aversion towards Julia reached the extreme. How could there be such a shameless woman? Clearly, she pushed mommy down the stairs, causing mommy’s ankle to fracture, yet she bites back, claiming mommy pushed her.

Mommy?

Is this little boy Ivana’s son?

Jack frowned, completely miscalculating; if this boy is Ivana’s son, he would surely speak for Ivana.

Mrs. Kane felt uncomfortable hearing Ian call Ivana "Mommy."
