Chapter 10: Quietly Doing Big Things

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Quietly Doing Big Things

Nora made coconut pastries and took them to the flower shop.

Lily had just sent off a customer and came running over, attracted by the aroma.

"Nora, I’m starving! I didn’t have lunch, just waiting for your wedding candy... Hey, why are there only pastries and no candy? Christian is too stingy!"

She stuffed her mouth with pastries, her eyes smiling as she clumsily spoke.

"Nora, if one day our flower shop goes bankrupt, you should open a dessert shop; it’ll surely make money!"

"Can’t you wish us something good?"

Nora tucked the pastry into her hand and playfully tapped her forehead, then immediately went to the back room to check the quality of the new batch of fresh flowers.

She was good at cooking, initially out of hunger, and later because Spencer’s gluttony pushed her to do so.

She wasn’t particularly fond of it and would only feel relieved when she no longer has this kind of life.

"Oh, Nora, those scent pouches you made from unsold flowers sold out. Could you make more some time? There are a few customers eager to buy."

Lily followed Nora, chattering about shop matters, and soon a box of pastries disappeared.

"These are so delicious! Nora, since you and Christian got the certificate, are you going to live with the Quinn Family, or are you living separately? If you live with his family, I might not have a chance to come over for meals, that’s..."

"I broke up with Christian!" Nora interrupted her, her hands still busy, soon her eyes showed excitement, "This new quality batch is pretty good; I’m thinking of launching a few more scent pouches to try out!"

She had a special sensitivity to spices; since opening the flower shop, she had studied a lot of books on spice combinations.

She had handmade aroma diffusers, scented powders, and scent pouches for personal use or gifts.

Selling scent pouches was Lily’s idea a few days ago, which surprisingly found a market.

With this additional income, the investment in the flower planting estate would return more quickly.

As she looked forward to the future, Lily became as nervous as ants on a hot pan.

"Let’s not talk about the scent pouches; you just said you broke up with Christian, so who did you marry today? Isn’t the Ford Family asking for money?"

Nora briefly explained the situation, and Lily erupted.

"A flash marriage? Impressive! Nora, you’re really the kind who quietly does big things! But I still think it’s a pity you and Christian had three years of emotions. You’re so impulsive to marry someone you don’t know; what if you regret it in the future."

Nora didn’t elaborate on how Christian refused to give the bride price and called her materialistic. Since they parted, there was no need for mutual denigration.

"You know my family’s situation; it can’t be dragged on. Instead of waiting for my stepfather to use some tricks, I might as well take the initiative. And the man I married also had no choice, forced by his grandmother, so we’re kind of in the same boat! If we can get along, we’ll live together; if not, we’ll treat it like a collaboration and divorce when it’s over, no big deal!"

She suppressed the bitterness in her heart and calmly analyzed the pros and cons, which was already the best choice for her at the moment.

Lily felt sorry, extending her plump arm to hug her.

"Nora, you still have me. If your husband mistreats you, your sister will take you in; come to my house, and we’ll grow old together, as long as you cook for me every day!"

Nora was amused, pushed her away in mock distaste, but felt much better.

"Alright, gossiping’s over, you can go home! I’ll handle the remaining orders."

Lily was about to inquire more details when the shop doorbell rang with a crisp sound.

"Hello, anything I can help with..."

Nora’s polite smile froze instantly.

She didn’t expect Christian to come by.

Looking at this man she had been with for three years, her heart ached intermittently, not because of lingering feelings, but regretting how she wasted three years of youth without seeing his true colors sooner.

"Nora, the aroma diffuser you gave me last time, my mom finished it, and found it helped with insomnia, could you make some more? My mom needs them urgently!"

Christian sat in the guest area as if nothing had happened, with an undeniably handsome face wearing an entitled expression.
