Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Tongue-Tied Male Lead
If it causes trouble later, it would be a hassle for Mr. Sinclair.
"Alright, when Mr. Sinclair has time, let’s go visit Grandma."
"When there’s time." He didn’t tell Nora about Grandma’s surgery, worried that the woman might use it to her advantage.
Since she brought it up, it’s better to visit Grandma after she’s recovered.
Nora tidied up the kitchen quickly and saw him still sitting on the sofa when she walked out.
Taking off her apron, she walked over with some curiosity, "Mr. Sinclair, you’re not going to sleep yet?"
"Let’s go, time to rest." He stood up and closed his files.
Although he didn’t directly say he was waiting for her, Nora sensed it, feeling a subtle warmth, it seems Mr. Sinclair isn’t that cold after all.
Walking to the door, she glanced at him before entering the room, "Goodnight, Mr. Sinclair."
She then went into the room to rest.
Standing at the door, Jasper paused for a moment, his lips formed a slight smile but quickly returned to normal.
Back in the bedroom, his phone vibrated slightly, Louis Hayes had sent him what he wanted.
"Aaron Lowell." His voice was deep, eyes fixed on the content, then sneered, "Just a small-time boss."
He didn’t take it to heart, after all, that woman hadn’t done anything inappropriate tonight.
Leaning against the headboard, he reflected on their interactions today, if she had no ulterior motives, he didn’t mind this kind of life.
But when he thought she might be calculating to take the Sinclair Family’s wealth, the warmth in his heart disappeared instantly.
Getting up the next morning, he had started to get used to having another person in the house, drying his hair as he went to the living room.
"Mr. Sinclair, you’re up. Breakfast is almost ready."
Her petite body still wearing an apron, smiling at him like that, stirred some inexplicable emotions in him.
"Okay." He nodded.
After everything was tidied up, the kitchen was also finished.
"Taste this porridge, I cooked it all morning." She scooped a spoonful and placed it in front of Jasper.
But looking at the porridge and buns in front of him, along with the soy milk and eggs on the side, he wasn’t really hungry.
It’s not that Chinese food is bad, it’s just that he’s used to eating bread and drinking coffee, he couldn’t adapt immediately.
Originally wanting to express it nicely, but when he spoke, the tone changed.
"You don’t have to prepare these, I don’t like eating them." After speaking, he froze, seeing the smile in the woman’s eyes across from him slowly fade, feeling a bit remorseful: "I mean..."
"I understand, Mr. Sinclair." She just paused briefly, then returned to normal.
She no longer paid attention to him, eating her breakfast quickly, then was ready to leave.
"I’ll send you off." He got up, after all, still ate a few bites symbolically.
He thought that conceding would solve it, but instead, he was outright refused.
"No need, it’s easy to get stuck in traffic over there. I’ll take the subway, it’s convenient." She said and left.
Only long after she left, Jasper realized he’d been refused just now?
With pursed lips, feeling a bit unhappy, he returned to the table.
For some reason, looking at the kitchen, he seemed to still see her busy figure in it.
With a light snort, he eventually finished the porridge in front of him, couldn’t eat anything more.
Once outside the community gate, Nora had long left, he swaggered onto the company’s car.
Sitting in the car, thinking about this morning’s events, Jasper pressed his lips together tightly, after a while said to Louis Hayes, "Go order a dishwasher later, don’t make it too expensive or too cheap, have it delivered here."
