Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Just Eating
After everyone left, Nora Northwood teased, "Uncle seems quite busy."
"I heard that someone important is coming today, supposedly that mysterious head of the Sinclair Family. By the way, isn’t your family name also Sinclair? Could there be some familial connection with the Sinclair Family?"
No wonder Lily Sloan thought this way; the surname is quite rare, and such a coincidence is intriguing.
Who knew just after she said this, she heard Nora chuckle softly.
"How could it be possible?" Mr. Sinclair is indeed wealthy, but there’s no way he is them: "The one in my family is just a minor manager. Don’t think we’re related just because of the same surname. If I were related to the Sinclair Family, would I be lucky enough to climb up?"
It was as if Lily had told a major joke, and it cheered up her mood considerably.
If Lily’s guess were true, Mr. Sinclair would never be living with her in Southwood Court. Although it’s a mid-to-high-end residential area, it still doesn’t match the Sinclair Family’s status.
"That’s true."
The two friends joked a bit and then headed to the food area.
As they were talking, a commotion was heard at the entrance.
The two looked at each other, guessing that such a grand entrance could only mean someone from the Sinclair Family had arrived.
"Let’s go check it out?" Lily dragged Nora by the arm, and they tried hard to squeeze forward.
At this moment outside the door, Jasper Sinclair was being escorted into the venue, surrounded by a group of attendants.
With features as if carved by a knife, his handsome face was bright and hard to look away from; all the women present couldn’t help but blush for him.
Yet even if anyone had thoughts, no one dared to approach, as the methods of this Sinclair Family member were too formidable, and he was known to not be fond of women.
For so many years, it had never been heard of any woman getting close to Jasper Sinclair— there were even whispers if he had some special proclivities.
"Young Master Sinclair is so handsome! I wonder who is lucky enough to marry into the Sinclair Family."
"Who knows, it’s probably someone with a comparable family background."
People in front were murmuring, their words becoming increasingly mysterious, while behind them, Lily and Nora listened with curiosity about this Young Master Sinclair.
Finally squeezing to the front, unfortunately, the person had already gone far.
Looking at the tall silhouette, Lily sighed deeply, "Ah, just missed it by a bit."
"Alright, there’s always another chance to see." Nora smiled, patting her friend’s head. She glanced at the silhouette of Young Master Sinclair, finding it somewhat familiar, but she shook her head, laughing off her own thoughts.
With her status, how could she know someone from high society?
Pouting, Lily nodded and returned to the food area with Nora. Since they couldn’t see the person, they might as well enjoy the food.
The two ignored the occasional mocking glances around them, took some food, and sat aside to eat.
Lily ate adorably, while Nora, though dressed plainly, dined with great elegance.
She had a plate full of food in front of her, and her eyebrows arched with a smile.
Jasper Sinclair, propping his chin, watched this scene, initially a bit displeased.
Thinking Nora had learned his identity and was deliberately appearing there to confront him, but after observing for a while, it seemed she was only interested in the food there?
He almost laughed in exasperation. Didn’t the fifty thousand he transferred to her card every month satisfy her spending?
The food at this banquet wasn’t even anything special, yet she seemed so happy eating it.
"President Sinclair, the Young Madam..." an assistant by his side also spotted Nora and hesitantly spoke up.
"Keep an eye on her movements tonight. Don’t let her discover me."
Retracting his gaze, Jasper Sinclair calmly raised a wine glass and said.
If he were discovered so soon, the game wouldn’t be as fun. He wanted to see if this woman was truly oblivious or had some ulterior motives.
