Chapter 15: Chapter 15: His Identity Has Been Discovered
Luckily, Nora quickly stopped her friend.
"He has nothing to do with it, it’s a family matter." Her voice still carried a nasally tone, tugging at one’s heartstrings.
Lily naturally knew about her family’s situation and could only sigh, unsure of how to comfort her friend.
The room fell silent, as she looked at her friend beside her, sighing repeatedly.
"Let’s not think about those upsetting things anymore. My uncle got us two invitations to a banquet, and since we have nothing to do tonight, why don’t we go and have some fun?"
She changed the topic. Initially, she didn’t really want to go, but seeing this now, it seemed like a good opportunity to take Nora and change her mood.
Shaking her head, Nora refused without a second thought.
She wasn’t interested in high-society banquets, and the invitation surely held some weight, which made her feel a bit embarrassed.
Just after she refused, Lily clung to her arm and began to pout, "Come on, come on, Nora, you’re the best, it’s just to join the fun. I heard there are plenty of delicious foods at the banquet, why not come and try them with me?"
With a sigh, Nora smiled helplessly and eventually agreed.
"Okay, okay, I’ll go with you. I’ll let Mr. Sinclair know later."
After speaking, she took out her phone and sent a message to Jasper Sinclair, and shortly after, he replied.
As it happened, Mr. Sinclair had plans tonight and couldn’t come back for dinner, saying there was work at the company and he needed to work overtime.
Breathing a sigh of relief, the two settled the plan.
By evening, Lily insisted on dressing her up nicely, and Nora hurriedly waved her hands.
"Why should a married woman dress up? Besides, we’re just going for the food, why make such a fuss?" Although wearing everyday casual attire at such events is not quite suitable, she didn’t like fussing over herself for a banquet; she didn’t really belong to that circle anyway.
Just to check out the scene is fine.
Lily didn’t insist either, and Nora did have a point.
Nora was already beautiful, and if she dressed up and got into trouble, it would be a mess. The newlyweds had just received their certificate; a conflict over this would not be good.
After tidying up simply herself, the two headed to the venue.
As soon as they got off the car outside the venue, Lily saw her uncle, "Uncle, I’m here!"
She raised her hand and looked towards Aaron Lowell not far away, who smiled gentlemanly back and then walked over to her.
"Lily looks very beautiful today, Nora, just go in with me holding the invitation later." Aaron Lowell waved the invitation in his hand, every movement polite and refined.
"Thank you, Uncle." She greeted him generously and then turned around.
She hadn’t met Aaron Lowell many times; she heard he was Lily’s grandfather’s late-born son and had opened his own small company, quite capable.
But Lily seemed quite attached to this uncle of hers.
After all, their age difference wasn’t particularly large, and Aaron Lowell doted on her especially.
"What do you think, isn’t my uncle quite handsome? If I had known Christian was such a scumbag, I would have let Uncle marry you." Lily spoke lightheartedly without a care.
Nora listened with helplessness, pinching her friend’s nose, "Don’t talk nonsense, you’re even daring to joke about Uncle."
Her uncle is indeed handsome, the kind possessing mature charm.
But if we’re talking about appearances, perhaps Mr. Sinclair is even more handsome.
However, even if he wasn’t handsome, she wouldn’t use her uncle like that; for one, they’re not that close, and two, he’s considered her elder.
The three held their invitations and went inside, and once inside the venue, Aaron Lowell had other matters to attend to, so he let the two girls roam freely.
Before leaving, he also reassured them with a few reminders.
