Chapter 17: Chapter 17: He’s Not Qualified

On the other side, Nora and her friend had almost finished eating, and Aaron Lowell hurried over.

"Sorry, I just spent a little extra time talking with a client from the company." He had beads of sweat on his forehead, probably having looked for them for quite a while.

Lily waved her hand: "No problem, you do what you need to do, Nora and I are both full, if there’s nothing else we’ll head back soon."

Her nerves weren’t attuned to noticing her uncle’s peculiar behavior, while Nora remained silently beside her.

"Then I’ll give you two a ride home, I’ve finished up my work here as well."

Looking at her friend by her side, Lily seemed to be asking if it was convenient for Nora.

Before Nora could even open her mouth to refuse, Aaron spoke again: "Let’s go, it’s hard to find a taxi here, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving you two girls alone."

With things said to this extent, it would be awkward to refuse again.

She had no choice but to nod in agreement.

Just as they were about to leave, Lily suddenly felt a sharp abdominal pain that made her gasp.

"Nora, it’s an emergency, I need to hit the restroom first, you and Uncle can wait for me in the car." Saying this, she directly ran off.

"Lily..." Nora raised her hand wanting to say something, but Lily had already disappeared.

Just as she was about to chase after her, a passing waiter nearly brushed against her.

She quickly dodged, avoiding the collision, but lost her balance in the process and was about to fall.

"Careful!" Aaron’s eyes tightened, and he stepped forward intending to catch Nora.

Meanwhile, Jasper Sinclair, for some unknown reason, felt inexplicably irritated, glaring at Aaron’s hand as if it could shoot fire, thinking this woman really knows how to flirt!

Just as he was about to lose his cool, Nora adeptly steadied herself against the wall, then leaned against it and managed to stand firm.

"Sorry, miss." The waiter felt sincerely apologetic.

Everyone at the venue was either rich or powerful, none of whom he could afford to offend.

Because of this, his expression as he looked at Nora carried an extra degree of cautious tension.

"No problem." Waving her hand, she smiled gently, a smile that reddened the waiter’s face, and he couldn’t help but steal a few more glances.

But in the next second, he felt a suffocating sensation as though being stared down by a venomous snake.

Following that feeling, he looked over, only to find it came from Mr. Sinclair’s direction!

His heart skipped a beat, fearing he had somehow offended someone from The Sinclair Family. If he made Mr. Sinclair unhappy, he’d be in trouble, and hurriedly packed up to leave.

Jasper’s expression finally eased a bit, though not by much.

With one person gone, wasn’t there still another one here?

Thinking of this, his face grew incredibly dark, having underestimated this woman’s ability to flirt with more than one.

The more he thought, the less comfortable he felt. After a while, he looked at his assistant beside him, beckoning him over.

The assistant was slightly taken aback, but still got up to handle it, feeling reassured with bodyguards present around President Sinclair.

And on Nora’s side, looking at Aaron who hadn’t retracted his hand yet, she felt a bit embarrassed: "I’m alright now, Uncle, let’s go, Lily should be coming out soon."

Smoothing out her clothes, she stood ready to leave.

"Alright." Aaron adjusted his tie, collected his emotions, and exited the venue with her.

Just at the entrance, a man hurriedly approached them: "You’re Miss Northwood, right? I’m the driver sent to take you back."

"Driver?" A trace of wariness appeared in Nora’s eyes, she didn’t have any driver—might this person have gotten things wrong?

Seeing her grow cautious, Louis Hayes immediately realized and chided his own stupidity.

"Mr. Sinclair arranged a car for you, you can verify with Mr. Sinclair." Louis grinned sheepishly.

Upon hearing this, Nora relaxed a little, taking out her phone to send Mr. Sinclair a message, asking if this was true or false.
