Chapter 30: Slander

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Slander

At Lily’s home, he didn’t go upstairs. He watched her go up and then drove away.

On the way back, he opened the car’s roof, letting the evening breeze brush his cheeks.

His handsome face showed a few more shades of determination.

The images of Nora Northwood kept flashing in his mind. When she was a teenager, she liked to follow Lily around, calling him "Uncle," but as she grew up, she became distant.

That "Uncle" had really made him miss out on a lot, but it won’t happen again in the future.

Meanwhile, at Southwood Court.

Nora Northwood looked at Christian Quinn blocking her way, her brow furrowed tightly.

"What do you want?"

The man in front of her had bloodshot eyes, looking as if he had caught someone cheating.

His expression seemed ready to devour her, as he pointed at her: "You shameless woman, did you really latch onto a rich guy? Last time my mom went to see you, you humiliated her so badly. My mom said you were indecent, and I didn’t believe her. Now I believe it – you really are shameless!"

Hearing such harsh words, even someone as indifferent as Nora Northwood couldn’t take it anymore.

Her face turned pale, looking at the man in front of her as though he was a complete stranger.

"Christian Quinn, we have already parted ways. Whether I latched onto a rich guy or not has nothing to do with you. Don’t make me look down on you."

While speaking, she tried to remain calm; this man really knew how to say hurtful things.

"I spit, why do you look down on me? Look at the eighteen thousand eight hundred wedding money, see if you even deserve it. Giving ten thousand was our Quinn Family showing face to you, yet you really don’t appreciate it!"

He got more excited as he spoke, drawing quite a crowd of onlookers.

People didn’t know the exact situation, they just listened to Christian Quinn’s side of the story about what kind of person Nora Northwood was.

"Isn’t this what they say online as someone who despises the poor and loves the rich? Truly despicable."

"Really shameless."

With a sorrowful look, Nora Northwood gazed at him; this is the man she had loved for several years, and only today did she see him clearly.

Taking a deep breath, she spoke loudly to the surroundings: "It’s true that I asked for eighteen thousand eight hundred as wedding money, but I also stated clearly that it was a loan from you. We could go to the bank and make a note of it; if your family disagreed, then that was that. Why come to insult me?"

"You wanted ten thousand for me to stay home, be a housewife, and not go out. Why? I am a free person, a living being!"

Unlike Christian Quinn, she couldn’t bring herself to say harsh words.

Even when angry, she would only state the facts clearly.

After she spoke, people around her seemed to understand the situation and looked at Christian Quinn with disdain.

"See, just moments ago I thought this girl despised the poor and loved the rich. Your family can’t give the money, but you can’t stop others from offering it. Trying to buy her freedom for ten thousand? Dream on."

Christian Quinn’s face reddened, too ashamed to hold his head high after being talked about.

Seeing his reputation getting worse, he decided to go all-out.

"Do you guys know? This woman is my leftover plaything, and anyone who knows her husband should be told that this secondhand woman is really not worth the price!"

After he finished speaking, he spat, realizing he was already embarrassed and thought he might as well let Nora Northwood taste the embarrassment.

He didn’t live here, but Nora Northwood and that old man did.

Deep down, he believed that person had to be an old man; how else could he be so naive as to get duped by her?

"What nonsense are you spouting!" Nora Northwood was stunned. She and Christian Quinn at most held hands; they hadn’t even kissed, yet he was fabricating lies.

"Am I talking nonsense? Do you have any evidence?"
