Chapter 32: Chapter 32: The Missing Bowls
His expression turned slightly unsightly for a moment, then he coughed lightly: "Yeah."
Nora felt a warmth in her heart; it seemed Mr. Sinclair wasn’t one of those pampered young men unwilling to do chores.
Thinking this, she walked to the cupboard, intending to take out her own cup.
"Eh? Why do there seem to be quite a few bowls and plates missing?" she whispered.
In the living room, Jasper’s face flashed with a hint of awkwardness.
He didn’t know how to use the dishwasher, and didn’t want to actively ask, so he simply washed a few bowls by himself.
Little did he know, he ended up breaking them all...
He did not respond to her remark but just mentioned it was getting late, and then went back to prepare for rest.
Back in the room, after showering, Nora lay on the bed, lost in thought.
Reflecting on her interactions with Mr. Sinclair recently, she didn’t hold any aversion to this marriage.
If things were to continue like this with Mr. Sinclair, it seemed she might be able to accept it.
Thinking this, her phone suddenly rang with a notification sound.
Seeing the friend request from Aaron, she hesitated for a moment but decided to accept.
"Uncle?" she tentatively messaged.
"Yeah, there’s not much of an age gap between us; just call me Aaron. Calling me uncle makes me sound old."
Aaron’s tone had a touch of helplessness, making the atmosphere between them less tense.
But Nora felt calling him Aaron was a bit strange; she decided to let the comment pass: "I wouldn’t dare. Uncle, is there a reason you added me?"
"I heard from Lily about your marriage."
"If there are any inconveniences in your life, you can come to me, since we’re family after all."
As he spoke, he unconsciously included her under his protective wing.
Nora was stunned for a moment, realizing Lily had told Aaron about the matter.
She didn’t think too much of it, but what did Uncle mean by that?
She was already married; what inconveniences in life was he referring to?
"Thank you, Uncle, I understand." She sent the message and he didn’t reply anymore.
Holding the phone, Aaron felt a bit annoyed.
Why couldn’t he just say it directly; instead, he expressed it in a roundabout way.
He clearly wanted to say that lending her twenty thousand wasn’t a problem, that if she was in trouble, she could borrow from him.
But what came out wasn’t quite that.
He angrily thumped the side of the bed and sighed.
Looking at the photo on the bedside table, the girl in the picture smiled as bright as a blooming flower, pure and clean.
"Nora, when will you ever notice my feelings."
...
Early next morning.
After finishing breakfast, Jasper put down his chopsticks and said, "I won’t be home for dinner tonight."
Nora nodded, suddenly thinking of something.
"By the way, it feels like we haven’t seen grandma for a long time. When should we go visit her?"
At the mention of grandma, his brows furrowed slightly.
What was this woman trying to do? Could she be thinking of asking for money from grandma?
"Maybe later; grandma’s health isn’t good these days, the doctor advised her to rest quietly." He turned the subject aside.
She nodded, recalling her aunt’s words, and suddenly chuckled: "Last time, aunt mentioned if we truly cherished grandma, we should have a baby for her to see sooner."
She originally meant it as a joke, not expecting the man in front of her to suddenly darken his face.
She was confused and didn’t know why.
"Before marriage, we agreed there would be no spousal duties and no children."
His serious tone left Nora standing there, unsure of what to say.
She was just casually mentioning it without much thought, but Mr. Sinclair’s attitude left her a bit surprised.
