Chapter 28: First Apology

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: First Apology

Left alone, Jasper Sinclair stood there in frustration. Damn it, what just happened!

In the kitchen, Nora Northwood absentmindedly scrubbed the dishes.

Thinking of Mr. Sinclair’s earlier attitude, she couldn’t help but sigh.

Perhaps it was simply a difference in lifestyle values. That made sense; Mr. Sinclair wasn’t like her.

He could earn his own money; having higher standards for life quality was understandable. It was just a different perspective; their circumstances of acquaintance were rather unique.

Or maybe it was because of Quentin Ford and Spencer Ford’s actions that Mr. Sinclair was disgusted, so he didn’t want the carpet anymore.

Thinking this way, she became relieved. Humming a little tune, she cleaned all the dishes in the sink.

Heating a cup of milk, she walked to the living room to continue reading.

Today was free, no need to go to school, so she decided to read by herself.

Not knowing how long she read, until it began getting dark outside, she stretched lazily to regain her consciousness.

"Oh no, I haven’t cooked dinner yet."

As she got up to head to the kitchen, the study door opened.

Seeing the tall figure walk out, she instinctively wanted to ask Mr. Sinclair what he wanted to eat.

"Um." A magnetic voice sounded, lacking the usual coldness, with a touch of softness.

Those eyes just looked at her, seemingly having something to say, but not knowing how to say it.

"What’s the matter? Does Mr. Sinclair want to say something?" she asked curiously, blinking her big eyes.

Seeing her seemingly unaffected by the afternoon’s events, he felt both relieved and uncomfortable. Did she not care about his attitude at all?

"Nothing, I said some harsh words this afternoon. That wasn’t my intention. The carpet is hard to clean. I don’t want you too tired over a few hundred bucks. I can easily afford a new one."

After he spoke, it was Nora Northwood’s turn to be stunned.

She hadn’t expected this situation, and Jasper Sinclair couldn’t help but laugh at her naive expression.

"So that’s what Mr. Sinclair thought. Sorry, I was overthinking it at the time," she said, blushing.

The atmosphere between the two eased considerably.

"What would you like to eat? Shall we go out for dinner tonight?" he suggested, seeing she had been tired all day, offering her some relaxation.

Nora paused: "In that case, can we have hot pot at home? I want to invite my friends over. You haven’t met them, and I’d like to introduce you."

"Sure." Jasper Sinclair agreed without hesitation.

After they settled on the idea, she happily went out to buy the hot pot ingredients.

Once she left, Jasper Sinclair sighed, looking at the carpet with silent amusement.

This woman was indeed different from what he thought. Saying she was greedy, yet she couldn’t part with a simple carpet. Saying she wasn’t, yet she demanded a bride price of 188,000.

Touching his chin, he inexplicably felt that this woman would bring him quite a few surprises.

After a while, Nora Northwood returned with the groceries, accompanied by a petite woman.

The moment she saw Jasper Sinclair, the woman froze for a moment, and he suddenly felt a jolt in his heart. Could it be she recognized him?

"My God, Nora, your husband is really handsome! He’s miles better than Scum Quinn!"

Even though Lily Sloan whispered in her ear, Jasper Sinclair’s sharp ears picked it up.

Scum Quinn? Who’s that?

It seemed his understanding of his little wife might not be thorough enough.

Nora laughed without saying anything, just pinched Lily’s nose before turning to introduce the two.

"This is my good friend, Lily Sloan. He is my husband, Jasper Sinclair."
