Chapter 44: Unrequited Love

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Unrequited Love

Perhaps it’s because being with him doesn’t feel restrictive, I unconsciously relaxed and opened up.

"It’s true to some extent. He’s my friend’s uncle, and I never thought business would lead me to his company. We haven’t really interacted alone before; this dinner was painfully awkward."

With a bitter smile, she casually complained to Louis Hayes.

Though she spoke without intention, the listener understood her well. After a simple analysis, combined with Aaron Lowell’s protective stance, Louis Hayes got the gist of it.

"I hope you don’t mind me speaking candidly, but is it possible that gentleman likes you?"

He said this to probe the attitude of the president’s wife, noticing that the president seemed overthinking today when he left.

The president, usually calm and composed, was acting like someone stepped on his tail today.

Even the supervisor’s contract letter was met with a harsh scolding from him.

Through the rearview mirror, he observed Nora Northwood’s reaction.

When she first heard him, her eyes showed confusion and bewilderment, but soon she laughed helplessly as if hearing a joke.

"How could that be? He’s my friend’s uncle and feels like an elder to me. How could there be such feelings?"

She waved her hand, refusing to believe it.

Seeing her reaction, Louis Hayes felt somewhat relieved, thinking this seemed a case of unrequited affection.

As they spoke, the car reached Southwood Court. Watching her enter the community, Louis Hayes drove away.

But no one knew that not far away, a man with a camera captured the scene.

Looking at the photos inside the camera, there were pictures of Nora Northwood dining with Aaron Lowell, smiling at each other in a flower shop, and just getting out of the car. The difference was that the male protagonists looked different in each photo.

With a cold snort, the man put away the camera: "Nora Northwood, you forced me to do this!"

After saying this, he turned and left, got into his car, and drove into traffic as if nothing had happened.

When she reached her door, she entered her fingerprint to unlock it but found it wouldn’t open.

"Strange, what’s going on?" She furrowed her brow, puzzled, and tried a few more times: "Could the fingerprint have been deleted?"

Muttering to herself, she couldn’t manage to open it despite multiple attempts.

She knocked and called to the people inside, unsure if Mr. Sinclair had returned at this hour.

Jasper Sinclair had indeed returned; it was he who deleted the fingerprint.

Watching the anxious look of the woman in the entry video, he felt an inexplicable irritation.

But recalling her gentle smile at Aaron Lowell earlier that evening, he steeled his heart and avoided looking.

As he pondered whether to retreat to his study for peace of mind, Louis Hayes suddenly sent a message.

"President Sinclair, I think you might have misunderstood your wife."

After this, he sent the conversation with Nora Northwood in the car to Jasper Sinclair, including both the text and the dashcam footage for evidence.

Pressing his thin lips together, Jasper Sinclair felt slightly relieved inside, wondering if she really didn’t know?

With a cold snort, who could say what’s true or false, this woman is so good at feigning innocence!

Thinking this but he still walked to the door to open it for Nora Northwood.

"Mr. Sinclair, you’re home." Her eyes showed a touch of surprise; she didn’t ask why he took so long to open the door, instead speaking lightly: "I don’t know if there’s a glitch in the fingerprint lock system, just now I couldn’t unlock the door with my fingerprint."

Pouting, she complained to him, completely unaware of Jasper Sinclair’s awkward expression.
