Chapter 53: Her Mind Is Not on Him

Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Her Mind Is Not on Him

Returning home in a daze, Nora Northwood couldn’t quite describe her emotions at that moment.

All kinds of emotions were intertwined as she sat blankly on the sofa, from midday to sunset, and then sat there until it was completely dark.

When Jasper Sinclair returned home, he almost jumped in surprise. He thought she hadn’t come back and was just about to call her when he suddenly noticed her sitting on the living room sofa.

"What’s going on? Why are you sitting in the dark at home?" he asked curiously.

As he walked up to her, he saw her face streaked with tears.

His heart tightened suddenly; he didn’t even notice that he was overly anxious at this moment.

Nora looked up dazedly, and upon seeing him, she didn’t wait for him to react and directly threw herself into his arms.

Tears came rushing out, and she cried sorrowfully.

"Tell me what happened," he said, feeling overwhelmed.

It was the first time he encountered such a situation; he had never comforted anyone before and had no idea what to do.

She intermittently recounted the entire story from beginning to end.

After listening, Jasper felt a mix of emotions.

Fifty thousand yuan wasn’t much to him, but the little one was deceived by her own mother.

"What’s the big deal? It’s just fifty thousand yuan. Consider it as being generous to them."

Afraid she might worry too much, he quickly tried to comfort her, although he already had a plan in mind.

Being conned was one thing, but using Nora’s kindness to swindle money was unacceptable.

Exhausted from crying, Nora shook her head and whispered, "How can that be? That’s money Mr. Sinclair earned through hard work, not money blown in by the wind."

He sighed and softened his tone considerably.

After comforting her for a while longer and seeing her calm down, he finally felt at ease.

When she went to prepare dinner, he went to the study to call his friend Finn Linden.

But after he finished speaking, Finn’s voice on the phone raised several octaves: "Are you suggesting I go extort them?"

"I’m just giving them a lesson, not extorting," he replied.

Finn frowned tightly, thinking it still seemed like extortion.

He was supposed to drive around the neighborhood, deliberately luring someone to vandalize his car and then make them pay.

What kind of diabolical person could come up with such a scheme?

He took a sharp breath, wondering how that family had offended Jasper.

"Alright, alright, I understand," he conceded reluctantly. "By the way, you and your wife are still playing that hidden identity game, huh? I really don’t get you."

"Just mind your own business," Jasper replied darkly before hanging up the phone.

Shrugging, he put down his phone and continued chatting lively with his sister beside him.

Wendy Bell sat nearby, smiling faintly. She had just gathered from Finn’s words that Jasper was indeed married but hadn’t revealed his true identity to his spouse?

Crossing her legs, she sipped her wine thoughtfully.

Did that mean the Sinclair Family didn’t accept this woman? Or was marrying her a matter of necessity?

As she pondered this, her mind began to stir again.

"What are you thinking?" Finn, tired from dancing, returned to his seat.

He glanced at the woman beside him, finding her intriguing. His relationship with Wendy Bell was actually just average.

But after she met Jasper, she seemed to grow familiar with him and even took the initiative to contact him.

Unfortunately, after observing several times, he concluded she wasn’t interested in him.

"Not much, just curious after hearing you say Sinclair and his wife are playing some hidden identity game," she replied.
