Chapter 187: You Didn’t Already Call the Police, Did You?

Chapter 187: Chapter 187: You Didn’t Already Call the Police, Did You?

By the time Nora Northwood rested well, it was already noon.

According to Sid, Spencer Ford went out in the morning and ran across each store, ending up getting kicked out everywhere.

Jasper Sinclair couldn’t help but sneer; how could his stuff be so easy to sell? He feared this brat couldn’t bear the consequences.

Having freshened up, looking at the man lazing on the bed, Nora’s heart filled with anger.

"It’s all your fault!" She thrust her small fist and pummeled him a bit, though it was more of a playful hit.

"Alright, alright, it’s all my fault. I won’t tease the wife next time."

Holding her in his arms, he was glad he’d tired her out in the morning; otherwise, with her softness nestled against him, he’d surely lose control.

Her almond eyes still carried a bit of moisture, and her slightly damp long hair laid across her shoulder.

The more Jasper looked, the more he liked; he couldn’t resist giving her a peck on the cheek.

When they came out to eat, Spencer Ford had already returned.

At the table, he asked quietly, "President Sinclair, did you find the lost items?"

"No, are you concerned?" Jasper replied indifferently as he looked over.

Spencer frantically shook his head, "I didn’t mean anything else. I am just anxious about the family losing so many things."

He continued to act innocent, though May Lawrence had already seen through him.

Usually, this lad’s hands weren’t clean, and recently he’s been buying a bunch of new stuff.

At the time, she didn’t think much of it; now looking at it, he must have taken Jasper Sinclair’s belongings to pawn them!

Lips pursed, she called Nora into the room after eating.

Sitting on the bed, she hesitated for a long time before speaking.

"Nora, Mom wants to ask you for a favor."

"You want me to let this matter go, don’t you?" Nora knew what she meant as soon as May Lawrence spoke.

"Yes, Mom is asking you for the last time. Your brother is still young; he can’t afford any trouble." May’s tone conveyed some worry.

She finished talking but saw Nora sneer for an instant.

"He’s still young? Is this a small matter? This is theft; clearly Mom knew about this for a while." Her tone was impatient, making May also feel anger inside.

This girl had such an attitude towards her mother!

"I know you’re angry, but in the end, we’re a family; you must consider our family." May spoke earnestly without realizing anything wrong with her words.

Nor did she notice the hurt in Nora’s eyes.

Seeing Nora unresponsive, she grew more anxious, wanting to say more.

"Mom, it’s you who became a family with them."

"Tell the truth, do you still remember what I like or dislike to eat?"

"Haven’t I considered this family enough? After you married, how did Quentin Ford treat me? Not only did he treat me worse than his own daughter, but even worse than an animal, using me for a dowry for Spencer Ford— I agreed, and then?"

She cried as she spoke.

Perhaps still with some mother-daughter feelings, May’s heart ached for a moment.

"You misunderstood your Uncle Ford..."

"See, even now, you still speak for him."

Nora snorted coldly, standing up, unwilling to pay her any more attention, just as the doorbell rang outside.

She roughly guessed who it was.

"Nora, you didn’t already call the police, did you?"

"Mom, it’s Jasper’s belongings. Whether or not to call the police is up to him. If you had told me sooner, there could have been a way to have him not pursue it, though you probably knew before this."
