Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Stirring Up Trouble at the Door
Even though Nora Northwood was so sleepy that she couldn’t think clearly, she still followed her heart and replied to him, "Then I won’t forgive you. I hate being lied to the most."
Hearing her say this, Jasper Sinclair felt a pang in his heart.
Before he could ask anything more, she was already so exhausted that she had fallen asleep.
The next day, when she got up, she felt her whole body was inexplicably sore.
She had been tormented a lot yesterday and hadn’t yet recovered.
Blushing and rubbing her waist, she got out of bed.
Jasper’s words from after she fell asleep kept echoing in her mind, and after a long pause, she shook her head.
"How could it be? He has already said he has nothing to do with the Sinclair Family." She dismissed such unrealistic thoughts.
Just as she was about to freshen up and go to the studio, the property management suddenly called.
"Mrs. Sinclair, come to the entrance of the residential area quickly, someone claiming to be your mother has been making a scene here for half the day."
The property staff sounded a bit embarrassed.
Although they knew this woman was a relative of an owner, Mr. Sinclair had previously instructed that anyone claiming to be Mrs. Sinclair’s relative should not be let through without first notifying her.
Nora’s face darkened, she hadn’t expected May Lawrence would find her here.
Taking a deep breath, she adjusted her mood, "I’m sorry to trouble you. I’ll be right down."
What must come will always come. Previously, she had blocked May Lawrence’s contact, so now May had come directly to make a fuss.
Hurrying to the guard post, she found May Lawrence with red eyes, pleading with the staff.
"Please, I’m just here to see my daughter."
"I’m sorry, ma’am. It’s our policy, we can’t just let you in."
This was the scene Nora encountered upon arrival. To be honest, if she didn’t know what kind of person May Lawrence was, she might have been deceived by her performance.
Who would have thought that someone who keeps saying how much they miss their daughter only ever comes to ask for money?
She took a deep breath and walked over slowly.
"Mrs. Sinclair." The guard relaxed considerably upon seeing her.
He left the space for the mother and daughter and quickly moved aside.
"Nora, why did you block your mother’s number? I wanted to call you to see how you were doing but couldn’t." May Lawrence sobbed as she stepped forward, trying to hug her.
The next second, Nora dodged, and she hugged empty air.
May Lawrence’s face showed a hint of displeasure, but she quickly adjusted and didn’t show it openly.
"Why have you come looking for me this time, to ask for money?" She didn’t have time to waste with May, so she got straight to the point.
As soon as she said that, May reacted as if her tail had been stepped on, "Nora, how can you say that to your mother? I am..."
"If that’s not the case, I have to go to work, so I won’t be able to stay with you long."
With that, she got up to leave.
May’s heart skipped, realizing if she left, this trip would be for nothing, and if she didn’t bring anything back, Quentin Ford certainly wouldn’t let her off.
Her old face flushed with embarrassment as she bit her lip.
"Nora, I don’t want to come and ask you for money either, but your uncle lost a lot in his business, and debt collectors have come to the house. I really didn’t want to bother you, but there’s no other way now."
As she spoke, she started crying, feeling more and more aggrieved until she was sobbing uncontrollably.
Quentin Ford doing business? Nora snorted in disdain; what kind of business could his dull brain do?
Most likely he gambled and lost money again, and only May Lawrence would be foolish enough to believe him.
Or perhaps it’s not about believing, just choosing to unconditionally obey.
