Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Let Your Brother Have It
May Lawrence was a bit troubled; this place looked like a high-end restaurant. If she upset Nora Northwood, she might have to pay out of her own pocket later.
Biting her lip, she regretted coming this way.
But thinking that Nora was inside, she figured her daughter wouldn’t let her lose too much face.
With this thought, she nodded and went in with Spencer Ford.
At the table, Nora nodded as he spoke, "I indeed never planned to study under Master Elaine. No matter what, Yuna Hughes was her former student. Asking her to teach me how to defeat her student sounds kind of absurd."
She shrugged and shook her head as she spoke. They had already eaten most of the dishes, and she was about to enjoy the dessert in front of her.
Suddenly, a waiter hurriedly approached and whispered something in Jasper Sinclair’s ear.
He was briefly taken aback, then glanced at Nora.
Her heart sounded an alarm. She didn’t know why, but she felt something bad was about to happen.
Suddenly, she saw Jasper beckoning her to sit by his side. Without suspicion, she got up and went over.
He brought over his untouched dessert for her, and then nodded to the waiter, indicating to bring someone over.
Nora still didn’t understand what was happening.
The next moment, she saw May Lawrence bringing Spencer Ford over.
Her face darkened, and she was about to say something, but Jasper squeezed her small hand: "Be good, eat your dessert."
Only then did she feel a bit better and ignored the mother and son pair.
Spencer looked infatuated, his eyes almost turning green at the sight of the food on the table. Without thinking much, he picked up the chopsticks and started eating.
May was initially a bit reserved.
But thinking about how expensive the dishes were, she might never have the chance to eat them again. She decided to go for it; after all, she was the elder, and she couldn’t be laughed at by two youngsters.
She comforted herself with this thought.
Nora’s eyes darkened; these two behaved as if they hadn’t eaten in eight lifetimes, not even bothering to talk to them.
That embarrassment surged up, and she bit her lip, momentarily unsure how to face Jasper.
However, Jasper wasn’t bothered.
He held Nora in his arms, sipping wine slowly with the other hand, though the mockery in his eyes was hard to ignore.
Seeing almost all the food was gone.
Spencer eyed the dessert on Nora’s phone.
Just as he was about to reach for it, Jasper stopped him: "No, you can’t. This is for my wife."
Meaning he had no right to eat it.
Nora felt a warmth in her heart, but May wasn’t happy.
She wasn’t upset with Jasper, but rather with Nora.
Why was this girl so oblivious!
If her brother wanted to eat it, she should just give it to him. It’s just a dessert, not something valuable. She didn’t realize that her inner balance had already started to tilt.
Now she was a bit displeased with Nora too.
She tried signaling to Nora several times to no avail. Finally, unable to bear Spencer’s impatient look, she faced Jasper’s cold gaze and spoke slowly, "Nora, honey, don’t you remember you don’t like sweets? Just as well, your brother likes them. Why don’t you give him the dessert to avoid waste?"
Nora almost laughed in anger. She made it sound so nice. When had she ever said she didn’t eat sweets?
She knew May was pressuring her. If it were before, she might have endured, but why endure now?
"Mom..."
"You’re mistaken; Nora loves sweets the most," Jasper interjected, and then lovingly fed her a bite.
Blushing, her face finally looked better.
