Chapter 138: Chapter 138: All You Do Is Cry—Aren’t You Just Bad Luck?

Bella Young heard Hugo Young’s response, and it felt as if her heart was being pierced by a sharp weapon, brutally cut open, bleeding in pain. She couldn’t bear it any longer, and tears, as large as beans, rolled down her cheeks in grievance.

Hugo Young tugged at the tie around his neck, preparing to take a shower and sleep.

Old Madam Young stopped him, her sharp eyes expressing concern, "Hugo, you look troubled as soon as you return. Is there a major issue at the company?"

Hugo Young denied, "Nothing’s wrong, Mom. Don’t overthink it. I’m tired and going to take a shower and rest; you should rest early too."

Hugo Young stood up and walked toward the bathroom, never once glancing at Bella Young, who was crying on the floor.

Franklin Young ran out of the room, holding a brand-new toy assault rifle in his hand. He intended to play a trick on Hugo Young. However, seeing Hugo’s displeased expression, he didn’t dare tease him, but instead aimed the assault rifle at Bella Young on the floor and went "BIU

BIU" shooting.

Bella Young was already heartbroken and felt like dying from sorrow. Now being bullied by her son too, she felt deep despair, and her tears flowed even more fiercely. She was the most powerless person in this family; anyone could bully her.

"Crying all the time. Do you have to be such bad luck?" Old Madam Young glared at Bella Young, cursing.

The servants stood by indifferently; no one went to help Bella Young up. They watched coldly, finding her misfortune amusing. Bella Young was usually sharp-tongued and looked down on the servants, considering them inferior beings.

Now, seeing Bella Young, supposedly an upper-class person, treated like this by her mother-in-law, husband, and son, was indeed satisfying for the servants.

Two hours later, Bella Young returned to the bedroom.

As soon as she opened the door, she was choked by the smoke that greeted her.

Hugo Young lay back on the bed, smoking in his men’s pajamas. The entire room was shrouded in smoke from his cigarettes; the ashtray on the bed was nearly full of cigarette butts, with ash scattered everywhere.

"Come in, and close the door."

Hugo Young was already in a bad mood, and seeing Bella Young cover her nose made him furious.

Bella Young walked in, tears welling up from the choking smoke. She closed the door and turned to open the windows for some fresh air.

Suddenly, Hugo Young pressed his cigarette into the ashtray, threw off the quilt, stepped forward, and grabbed Bella Young’s wrist. His broad face turned somber, "Have you offended someone lately?"

Bella Young was terrified by Hugo Young’s dark expression, and the sharp pain from her wrist made her eyes stream with tears. She opened her mouth but could only cough from the smoke in the room.

There was no trace of pity on Hugo Young’s face. Seeing Bella Young cough annoyed him to the point where he almost wanted to slap her: "Say it, did you offend someone? Are you putting the company at risk?"

After his shower, he sat on the bed deep in thought, feeling more and more uneasy. All major banks in Ravenswood refused to loan him money, even the bank managers he had good relations with in the past found various excuses. Despite offering very tempting benefits, they still rejected him. This had never happened before.

Unless, someone is secretly targeting The Young Group.

Moreover, this person’s influence is so significant that none of the banks in Ravenswood dare to offend them.

Hugo Young racked his brain but couldn’t figure out why such a person would target The Young Group. Such a big figure shouldn’t even notice The Young Group!

When he saw Bella Young come in, a sudden thought struck him. He couldn’t get close to these prominent figures in time; he wouldn’t offend them on purpose. Could it be this oblivious woman who offended them?

Bella Young’s throat hurt from the coughing. She shook her head and, with a sobbing tone, said, "I didn’t, I didn’t offend anyone. Hugo, I never meddle in your company’s affairs. Don’t take your anger out on me. I’ve had enough suffering today."

Seeing Bella Young’s swollen eyes from crying, Hugo Young threw off her hand and warned, "You’d better be telling the truth today. If I find out you lied to me, I’ll make sure you regret it, you filthy woman."

The Young Group is his life. Without The Young Group, he would be shattered, his life utterly ruinous. Would he still be as good-tempered as before? Impossible. All that’s left in him is hostility.

Bella Young almost fell to the ground again. Seeing her wrist reddened from the grip, her nose stung, and tears fell fiercely. She didn’t know why but felt a strong sense of impending doom.

She bit her lip; it seemed there was no way to stay in this house. Once she wins the lawsuit tomorrow and gets the money, she would find a way to pocket some more from Hugo Young, then abandon her husband and child, escape abroad, and find a foreign man to remarry.

Tonight, she finally saw Hugo Young’s true colors.

On the day of the court case.

Ivana Monroe took Timmy down the stairs to send him to school. As they walked out of the neighborhood, she saw a silver-gray Audi A7 parked by the roadside, with Silas Joyce standing beside it in professional attire.

Seeing Ivana, he raised his hand to greet her.

Ivana was a bit surprised, "Senior Silas, why are you at the entrance of my neighborhood?"

Timmy greeted politely, "Good morning, Uncle Joyce."

Silas smiled and greeted Timmy, "Hello there, little Timmy." He then looked up at Ivana and said, "The court case starts at nine this morning. I just happened to not need to go to the office today, so I thought I’d drop by to pick you up."

Silas had returned from the hospital feeling dejected for several days, a mood noticed by Samuel Lockwood, his sharp boss, who saw right through him at once. Silas had to confess, blushing, his admiration for Ivana, also admitting he would offer her his blessings.

However, Samuel told him that Ivana and Leon Keane were not married; currently, Ivana was just Leon’s companion, and Leon only had a playful attitude towards her. Otherwise, he would have married Ivana by now.

Upon hearing this, Silas was infuriated, cursing Leon as a scumbag. Samuel then encouraged him, stating that if he genuinely liked Ivana, he should boldly pursue her and give her happiness.

Aroused by this encouragement, Silas found himself in the current situation, with the address being provided by Samuel Lockwood.

Seeing Timmy today, Silas felt much better than when he saw Timmy at the hospital. Perhaps the sight of Timmy and his father together had been too heartbreaking. Now, he just wanted to protect Ivana, ensuring she wasn’t hurt, and with this resolve, he also grew fond of Timmy due to his love for Ivana.

Ivana wasn’t aware of what Samuel Lockwood said in front of Silas, nor could she anticipate Silas’s current thoughts, so she believed Silas’s words.

"Then I’ll trouble you, Senior Silas."

"It’s no trouble at all."

Silas opened the car door, and Ivana and Timmy sat in the back seat.

Silas had bought breakfast on board. He turned and handed it to the mother and son in the back, "I was worried about having enough time to eat breakfast at a store, so I took the liberty to buy something for you. I hope you don’t mind!"
