Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Madam, President Kane Cares About You Very Much
"Ian knows now." Ian Keane looked up at Leon Keane again.
"Daddy, this is where you’re wrong. When Mommy was in trouble, why didn’t you show up to help her?"
Leon also wanted to be there, but circumstances didn’t allow it! He couldn’t put a tracker on Ivana Monroe to keep an eye on her and rush over the moment she was in trouble.
Ivana said to Leon, "Stop misleading the kids. You’re the father of two children, and they trust what you say. If you have no trust in me, we can choose not to get married."
What right did he have to distrust her?
Sean Vaughn only found out she was in the hospital and came to see her, nothing more.
After she was pushed down the stairs by Julia Sinclair, Leon was worried about Julia and ignored Ivana’s injuries.
Ivana laughed mockingly to herself.
Leon frowned, displeased with her attitude. "Do I need to remind you again that we’ve already registered? We are legally married."
Legally married?
Yes, they were legally married because Leon had taken her to the civil affairs bureau to get the marriage certificate in advance.
But did being legally married matter? It was meaningless; if it did, there wouldn’t be so many divorces in this world.
Leon saw Ivana’s silence, the look of loneliness on her face, and suddenly thought of something, his eyes softened with a hint of heartache, "You misunderstood, it’s not that I don’t have trust in you; it’s that I don’t trust Sean Vaughn."
Sean was a man, and so was he. He understood men better than Ivana did.
Ivana said nothing.
Not trusting Sean and not trusting her, is there a difference?
There’s a saying that one hand can’t clap alone.
Leon and Ian stayed in Ivana’s hospital room for about ten minutes. Seeing the time, Leon said to Ivana, "I’ll take Ian to the next room and come back to accompany you later."
Ivana replied with a simple "Mm."
Ian came to Ivana’s bedside and saw her injured leg, heavily casted. He was extremely distressed and wished he could, like Timmy, spend more time with her.
"Mommy, take good care of yourself. Ian will come to see you often."
Ian was a little boy not good at expressing himself, but after spending some time with Ivana, he learned to care for others.
Ivana smiled gently, "Alright. Mommy will listen to Ian."
Ian’s cold little face lit up with a brilliant smile as he leaned over and planted a kiss on Ivana’s cheek, whispering, "Mommy, Ian likes you very much."
Ivana felt the gentle kiss on her cheek and the sweet words from the child, warming her heart.
Leon watched the affectionate interaction between the mother and son, feeling rather jealous. He wasn’t as close to her as his son was.
Leon glanced at Timmy, who was smiling at Ivana and Ian, not even looking at him, their father. Leon suddenly had the illusion that Ivana and the two kids were a family.
Leon and Ian left the hospital room.
Aunt Golding smiled and said, "Madam, President Kane cares about you very much."
While Leon was there, Aunt Golding hadn’t spoken because she knew that saying certain things in front of both parties wouldn’t be as effective as saying them after one had left.
Ivana’s smile faded, and confusion flashed in her eyes. Care? Sometimes she did feel his concern, but other times, she felt as if she had fallen into an icy pit.
Ivana was very tired; she didn’t want to speculate about Leon’s thoughts, as that would only make her get more deeply entangled.
Seeing Ivana’s silence, Aunt Golding wisely chose not to continue the conversation.
Leo Griffin appeared inside Ivana’s hospital room, pretentiously checking her casted foot, asking a few questions, thinking Ivana would actively request surgery.
However, Ivana remained silent.
Leo frowned, having to ask, "Have you thought it over?"
Ivana paused, recalling Leo’s mention of surgery yesterday, and asked, "Professor Griffin, if I have the surgery, how long until I can stand up and walk normally?"
Seeing Ivana’s willingness to discuss, Leo was pleased but didn’t show it, calmly saying, "I’ve seen your X-rays. If the surgery succeeds, you should be able to get up in about ten days and fully recover in fifteen."
So fast?
Ivana was a bit surprised.
She didn’t lose her rationale and asked a pointed question, "What if the surgery isn’t successful?"
Leo thought to himself: If the surgery fails, your leg will be useless, of course! Why even ask?
Leo said, "My surgeries have a success rate of 99.9%. I’ve handled countless more severe surgeries, all successful. Do you think this one would fail?"
Aunt Golding chimed in, "My lady naturally hopes Professor Griffin’s surgery will succeed, but all surgeries carry risks. Perhaps Professor Griffin should discuss all potential complications with her, to mentally prepare her."
Aunt Golding’s comment resonated with Ivana.
Leo was a bit annoyed, thinking that Aunt Golding, the caregiver, was too meddlesome.
Ivana had stopped asking questions when Aunt Golding suddenly piped up.
Leo considered it and said, "I understand your concerns. However, those concerns are unnecessary—modern medicine is so advanced. Even if the first surgery doesn’t succeed, a second one is possible."
But he had promised Shelton Hale to render Ivana disabled, ensuring an irreversible medical accident in one go.
Ivana replied, "I understand; I’ll think about it."
Leo suddenly said anxiously, "You still need to consider?"
He hadn’t seen such a difficult patient before.
Typically, when patients hear a 99% success rate, they agree without hesitation.
Ivana had no reason not to agree immediately.
Ivana looked at Leo quizzically, "Can’t I consider it?"
Realizing his impatience, Leo knew it could arouse Ivana’s suspicion—a major mistake. He pretended to be composed, "As you wish. You’re the one injured. No matter how long you think, if you miss the optimal treatment period, it’s irrelevant to me."
Leo left Ivana’s hospital room. As he stepped out, a tall figure approached—a very handsome man exuding an air of authority.
Leo was taken aback; this man seemed familiar. Had he seen him somewhere before?
Leon sensed someone staring and shot a sharp look over. Leo didn’t dare to stare any longer, averted his eyes, and left. Such a high-ranking individual was not to be offended.
Leon spent an hour with Ivana in room 2, then left to go to the office.
A large young man in a hospital gown appeared in Leon’s view.
